Paranormal Activity

This movie has the dubious honor of being the first movie I've ever walked out of in my life. Not because it was bad or too scary, but because I got severe motion sickness from it. Truth be told, I probably would've stuck with it if it weren't for the fact that I was watching it with my sister (and BIL) and she was both sick AND bored and wanted to ( Read more... )

More like $37.50. It was me, sis, and BIL (not the one I don't like haha). Admission is $12.50.

Aww, that sucks. :(

Shaky-cam movies can be horrible sometimes. I almost lost my dinner during Cloverfield.

I really should've known better. ://// But gargh, I thought the camera was gonna be mounted most of the time. It wasn't.

I never saw Cloverfield for that reason. Plus, distrust of JJ Abrams (still don't trust him, not even after Star Trek). And Bourne. Not hand-cam, of course, but it was stylistically shaky-cam, and the second one was the WORST. Blargh.

Funny OT story: I was at a friend's place, watching TV, and she was on her laptop, reading ontd_political. I glanced over as she was skimming through the comments, and I thought I saw a glimpse of an icon with a hovering Zach. I was like, huh, that looked like aurora_84's icon. I asked my friend to page back up, and huzzah, it was indeed you. :D

I thought so too. This is seriously making me reconsider ever watching it.

Cloverfield was actually v.v. nifty, but I had to look away a lot. Stupid shaky-cam! I didn't get sick with the Bourne movies, even though the third one especially is INSANE.

Heeeee! I actually took ontd_p off my reading list today, cause it was making me v.v. depressed. I'm still going to check it daily, though.

I think the effect might be less when seeing it on TV as opposed to the giant screen of a theater. Plus, you know, ability to pause and look away for three hours.

Huh, I always thought the second one was the worst. That one made me feel the most ill. I couldn't rewatch it for the longest time because of that, even though it has EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVIL Karl Urban.

Trek actually had a few moments where it danced on the edge. The convo in the bar between Kirk and Pike? I HATED the way the cam never stayed steady on their faces, especially Kirk's. I mean, not just the fact that Chris Pine is GORGEOUS (even when beat up) and so I would like a steady view of him, but lord, it was very borderline in making me feel queasy.

I read ontd_p when I really run out of things to read, because, yeah, it's so depressing. and rage-inducing.

Gah, I'm sorry that movie failed so spectacularly. It otherwise sounded kind of cool...

The movie actually wasn't bad. Like, my sister was IMMENSELY BORED, but I was actually fairly into it, except for the overwhelming nausea that totally ruined the whole thing.

I'm glad you told me about the shaky camerawork. Stuff like that is a deal-breaker to me.

You are very welcome. It's weird, because I read NOTHING about this in PA's reviews. Blair Witch was notorious for this, and Bourne got some warnings, too, about the shakycam. Cloverfield, of course. But nada on PA.

I'll just have a ahem a copy and pause it for settling.
