Coffee Brownies

Sorry, no recipe today. The flavour is still too faint to make this experiment a success. I even used quadruple-strong insta-coffee.
Failed coffee-brownie attempts so far:
  1. ground coffee beans Too bitter and crunchy. Perhaps I should try this again with a finer grind.
  2. Kahlua (½ cup of + 1 cup of milk = 1½ cups total recipe liquid) ( Read more... )

Heyyy, there's a thought! I'd been trying to act more "from scratch"y about it, but it's not like I'm grinding my own cocoa beans or extracting my own vanilla, is it? I might have to get some of that.

Instant espresso might have more of a kick?

Maybe so! (Although I'm not sure I approve of such a thing.)

Are you willing to put icing on them? strong coffee/finely ground coffee in the icing will probably come through with a powerful flavour

This is also a pretty good idea. I will keep it in mind, and lord knows I need to use up some powdered sugar, but I'm not too sure how I'd transport them safely. I would need to invest in a second rectangular tupperware thing (the one I have already is for storing spaghetti) if I were to make iced anything very often...
