Series: Enduring the Test of Time
Title: Forgive and Forget
Author: McRaider
Summary: When Rose and Ianto get caught on the sanctuary of a sacred ground, their threatened to be punished, however Jack steps in and sacrifices himself, however the sacrifice may cost them all a great deal of pain in the long run.
Author’s Note: It’s clichéd, I know, but ultimately out of every fan fiction I’ve ever read, this is one of my absolute favorite plot lines EVER! So I chose to do it in my own creative way. If it resembles your fic, I apologize however it was not intended as such in any way shape or form. Also the necklace, and they scenes surrounding it and the myth are not mine, rather they belong to  and her wonderful series which starts with Salt & Pepper, seriously read it sometime, it’s beautiful!
Rated: R (violence and torture…yes it’s a common theme with me all right! I’m a sick wanker I know! I’m workin’ on it-not really)
Thanks: My Betas :) you are all amazing!
Deadication:  To the people in New Orleans, I hope you're able to return to your homes soon.

Chapter Four
Somewhere around five drinks of something akin to Earth’s version of whiskey, Jack was pretty sure he couldn’t even remember what name he’d chosen this time around. He wasn’t drunk-at least he didn’t think so, but he was definitely feeling woozy. He’d have a headache in the morning. The tender had looked at him suspiciously for the past hour; probably afraid Jack would barf all over his nice bar.
The woman alien from earlier spotted Jack and shook her head. She recalled making the stones that would bond this young man with that other ganglier man from earlier. She knew their relationship was in for a rocky start, but this was a little ridiculous. Stepping over to him, she pressed her grey hand to his arm, causing him to jump at the sudden unwanted touch. Even drunk, his reactions seemed twice as quick as normal people.
She watched him turn and stare at her, his eyes desperately trying to focus on her, as if trying to recall how and why he knew her. “Wha?” He asked, his voice slurring slightly.
            “Foolish child.”
“’m no chil’.” He replied indignantly.
“We have names for people such as your self on my planet. We call you Tornados.”
“Li’e funnel cloud…thingys?” He paused, his brow furrowing at his sudden inability to form coherent sentences.
“Yes, like earthling cyclones, if you’d prefer. But you sweep in, thinking you’ll pick up all the big stuff, and sometimes you do. But many times you only end up ruining things in your path because you are incapable of slowing down.”
Jack’s eyes shot open in surprise. “That’s profound.” He replied.
She chuckled softly. “Child, your two friends were on their way towards the sacred grounds. It would do you well to stop them before they get there. I fear the creatures residing there have not exactly become forgiving in their many years.”
If Jack had actually been drunk-which he wasn’t-that sobered him up real quick. He didn’t even respond to the woman, he slapped down his remaining credits and half stumbled, half ran out of the pub in the direction of the sacred grounds. He couldn’t let anything happen to them, the Doctor would kill him, and he didn’t want to be killed by the Doctor-he was pretty sure the man probably had some wicked ways after 900 years.

Rose and Ianto had been wandering for nearly three hours when they came upon a large area in the middle of nowhere-it was an open field with what appeared to be stone sculptures or entrances around it, it reminded Rose a little of the Stonehenge, only bigger and spread out more.
“Ianto-“ She whispered, gripping his arm a little tight. “I’m not sure we’re supposed to be here.”
Ianto nodded. “I’m starting to agree with you.” He gripped her hand and began to back up. Ianto’s eyes shot open when he backed up against something hard, but not rock hard, more like body-hard.
“You shouldn’t be here.” A deep menacing voice spoke. Whirling around Rose and Ianto gaped at the sight before him. The man before him was very human looking but he was a good foot taller than Ianto and looked ominous.
“Well then, we were just leaving,” Rose offered, trying not to let the shaking in her voice be heard.
“Those who enter do not leave.” Another voice said. Rose squeezed against Ianto as they noticed they were now surrounded by the people.
            “No exceptions?” Ianto asked.
            “You shall be punished-“
“WAIT!” A familiar tenor voice cried. Rose and Ianto were stunned to see Jack running towards the ruins. Both wanted to cry out to leave, to turn out and run the other way. At this point, however, it appeared Jack was on a mission.
He paused at the outside of the ruins, huffing, he looked pale and drawn, and Ianto was fairly sure the older man’s eyes were looking a little blood shot. Jack held up his hands carefully. “I, Jackson Kethan Thompson, request access to enter the sacred land of the Valspiarna.”
“You know these children?” The man who’d first caught them asked as he rounded on Jack.
“I do, please forgive them it is my fault your Highness.” Jack offered, quickly he bowed down on one knee, lowering his head, trying to force the bile from rising in his throat and onto the ground below.
            “In what way?”
Jack slowly glanced up. “They are my responsibility; I brought them to trade on this planet. I forgot to warn them of your sacred grounds.”
He looked over at Rose and Ianto, noticing that they were about to deny, he gave the tiniest shake of his head and looked back up at the man before him. “Please, please forgive my stupidity, they did not mean to cause you and your people any harm. Let them go.”
“Those who trespass must be punished-“
“I know, I understand, I truly do, but not them.” His hands were beginning to shake as the blood was pumping the alcohol through his system. His head was beginning to spin, his stomach churning. He said a silent prayer to forty different gods he did know, and even a few he wasn’t sure about that he wouldn’t retch in front of these people. It wasn’t exactly proper to lose your stomach on the person’s shoe to which you were begging for forgiveness-the person, not the shoe.
“You wish to take their place?” Jack looked up, feeling panic soar through his veins. He didn’t want to die, and he was aware of what their old practices entailed in torture. He just prayed it still wasn’t as horrific. He looked back at Ianto and Rose, before looking up at the man again. “If that’s what it takes to get them set free.” He whispered, he allowed the remorse towards his two friends to be seen in his eyes as he looked at them. He couldn’t let them get hurt; the Doctor would never forgive him. He had to protect them. He was the eldest-after the Doctor, which meant he was in charge.
