Series: Enduring the Test of Time
Title: Forgive and Forget
Author: McRaider
Summary: When Rose and Ianto get caught on the sanctuary of a sacred ground, their threatened to be punished, however Jack steps in and sacrifices himself, however the sacrifice may cost them all a great deal of pain in the long run.
Author’s Note: It’s clichéd, I know, but ultimately out of every fan fiction I’ve ever read, this is one of my absolute favorite plot lines EVER! So I chose to do it in my own creative way. If it resembles your fic, I apologize however it was not intended as such in any way shape or form. Also the necklace, and they scenes surrounding it and the myth are not mine, rather they belong to and her wonderful series which starts with Salt & Pepper, seriously read it sometime, it’s beautiful!
Rated: R (violence and torture…yes it’s a common theme with me all right! I’m a sick wanker I know! I’m workin’ on it-not really)
Thanks: My Betas :) you are all amazing!
Deadication: I'm sorry, I have no smut to bring you, otherwise I would. So please accept a dedication from me and the next chapter without stoning me :) Thank you

Here Chapter Five
“Jack!” Hissed Ianto, suddenly terrified for the older man, he began to fight.
“SILENCE!” Bellowed the man, his eyes turned back to Jack and he nodded. “You are a brave man Child of Thompson, it is a rare gift that someone freely gives of themselves to save others. Very well, we shall grant your wish, the girl may go.”
Jack’s eyes grew wide as he realized what the man had just said. “No-wait, what about the boy?”
“Two have trespassed, two must be punished.”
“Then punish me twice! Kill me, I don’t care but please don’t lay a hand on him.”
“You would sacrifice yourself in the place of two children who have defied you?”
Jack could feel the waves of nausea growing by the tenfold. “Please, they’re not from this time or place, they’re young. They didn’t know. I did, I’m sorry and for that I beg you please, release them both. Don’t harm them; don’t harm them for my arrogance and stupidity. Your people are kind and forgiving; I know I’ve been here before. You do not punish people for the mistakes of another. Please don’t let that change now, I’m offering you my life, whatever that’s worth, for the sake of theirs. I certainly know I’m not worth the life of two-“
“NO! You are Jack!” cried Ianto, as he continued to fight.
Jack stared at him. “Just stop,” Jack whispered. “Please your highness. Your people can place them back in the village; they’ll go back to our ship and never step on your ground again.”
“Very well, you appeal to my better nature young one. Guards, you are to return these two to the boundaries of the village.”
“Jack!” Cried Rose as they began to move.
“You two will remain silent. If you step foot on these grounds again, we shall not be as kind. Go on your way.”
“What of Jack?” Ianto asked as they passed Jack and the head of the group.
“He shall be dealt with in our ways.”
“Will we get him back?” Rose questioned her voice beginning to quake as she looked at him.
Jack slowly pushed himself to his feet; looking at the leader he bowed his head. “May I have a moment?”
The man seemed to study them all before nodding. “Please do not try to run; we will deal with you all if you chose to do that.”
“I’m a man of honor, your highness. I keep my promises.” Well that wasn’t always true, but Jack certainly wasn’t going to tell him that. This, however, was one promise he would-couldn’t break. Ianto and Rose’s lives depended on it. Getting to his feet, Jack could barely keep the aching and shaking from his legs as they burned. He still felt sick; he was just waiting for vertigo to hit him. Reaching out he looked at Rose and smiled. “Take care of them.”
She nodded slowly as he pressed a kiss to her forehead. Fear was rapidly overtaking her every through and emotion. What if she never saw him again? She didn’t know how she could do without him, without all the beauty he brought into the world, and there was so very much of it. It wasn’t just his flirtation, but rather his gift to love abundantly and completely. Jack loved everyone, perhaps differently, but certainly equally. Wrapping her arms around his waist tightly she pressed her head against his chest, before kissing it lightly. “Love you.” She whimpered.
Jack was stunned to hear those words. He looked down at her and smiled. “Me too. Go on then, an’ tell the Doctor instead of me.” He turned to Ianto and sighed. “I-“ He shook his head. “Sorry.” Stepping forward he quickly pressed his lips to Ianto’s, before stepping back and turning back to the sacred land.
Ianto stood there, Rose grabbed Ianto’s hand though, feeling fear in her heart. She knew however, there was no way to get him out now. They would only succeed in saving Jack if they found the Doctor first. “Come on, Ianto.” She murmured.
Ianto couldn’t move, he was in a panic, he couldn’t leave him here. He’d just gotten the bastard back. Jack had just kissed him, Ianto knew that was Jack’s way of saying I forgive you and begging for forgiveness as well. He shook his head, just staring, the connection was made, Ianto felt linked to this man suddenly.
Ianto, go.
Ianto’s eyes shot open and he stared at the man. He’d known Jack could feel him, but he didn’t realize Jack had the same powers. Staring at the man he felt his eyes beginning to burn with tears. I’m sorry.
I forgive you, now go.
What about you?
I’m a survivor, Ianto. Please go before they change their minds.
We’ll come back for you.
Not until nightfall, don’t come back until late into the night. It’s the only time that is safe, tell the Doctor to be silent. Please Ianto, don’t leave me behind. I don’t want to be alone anymore.
We were never going to leave you behind you daft fool.
I love you.
Ianto felt the tears beginning to well in his eyes as he simply nodded, he couldn’t respond, didn’t quite know how to just yet. All he could do was nod as Rose led him away from the sacrificial grounds. Cariad. Was Ianto’s parting word.
