I haven't been around much have I?  I mean, not in a public author blogging sort of a way.  So, as a New Year's resolution, I resolve to be around a bit more.  And yes,  you can post resolutions on the 3rd... no point in posting on the 1st, no one would have been here.

But, if y'all want me to be around and actually blogging more, here's what you ( Read more... )

Hi,I'mabigfanandyoudon'tknowmebutIhaveastupidquestion.

How much research do you wind up doing for your books? Particularly the Confederation books, since there's so much military "stuff" in it? What are the kinds of things that you think to research, and what are the kinds of things you'd *never* think to research, but you get poked about either by your friends, editors, or both? I'm deeply curious.

Oh for a cuidado: vomito de gato icon.

Do you want to be a Public Author Blogging or do you want to be a person blogging who happens to be an author?

Hmmm, good question. :)

Mostly the former but I'm up for the later if the question/comment/suggestion intregues me.

Hmm. Outline or world-build first? (Brought to you by my attempts to stay awake at work by working on my set of world-building exercises). Outline or research first? Outline at all? Pants it? Pants your main characters?

Character-based fiction or plot-based fiction? How much humor is too much humor? Squirrels!

I'd ask questions about the publishing industry but I'm betting the answers would just depress me. ;)

The discussion on KitchenAids and beating people with them thus far

I'm curious to see how many ways we can work this into some kind of scenario. Possibly I need more sleep or less sugar, or both.

Favourites of 2010? (Book, movie, acrobatic flying cat performance?) Or things you are looking forward to in 2011? (Return of the BBC Sherlock series, f'r'instance? :)

In the more fantastical portions of your work, which would you most like to be able to do in your life?

Stories about cats that don't involve vomit are OK, right?

Is Enchantment Emporium going to become a series? How did you get the idea for the story?
