Wherein Naphy Somehow Ties Fandom to Howler Monkeys, Underwear, and Celery

Jan 30, 2007 15:25

-Waves an initial hello to the talented Big Name Fans on her F-list, none of the following of which applies to them-

There are many, many rants and instructional essays on how to make friends with BNFs/become a BNF/survive being a BNF/tell if you are a BNF/Cassie Claire.

But what if, like me, you're too lazy indifferent bunny-enslaved 'cautious' ( Read more... )

Hee, this amused me.

And the final words of this are wise indeed!

Celery always leaves much food for thought :P And I have much, much love for poor insane Aldous Huxley :)

Glad you had fun!

People like relationships. People do not want to read about solitary characters communing with trees. Embrace the trees.

Erm... In Doctor Who, there's quite a sexy pairing that includes a tree...

XD

Fun(ny) stuff.

I love Jabe and Jabe/Doctor :) Trust me to be involved in the one fandom where that would actually apply... -Sticks out tongue at Nina DS in entirely age-inappropriate manner-

And er... I didn't respond to your last round of comments, did I? I've managed to get myself busy and distracted, but if you don't mind I'll head back over and reply within the next day or so. -Needs to get work finished *before* she delves back into discussion-

Celery is the ultimate Zen ;)

I love Jabe and Jabe/Doctor :)

Seriously! (I need a Jabe icon - she was fantastic) I had noticed the chemistry between Nine and Rose in "Rose", but I thought they were still on the "Doctor is asexual" kick. But Jabe put paid to that! Frankly, I thought they were going to have to hose Chris Eccleston and Yasmin Bannerman down (I heard a rumor that they dated for a while after that, and I was far from surprised). But I thought she was a fantastic design, as well as beautifully acted. She, like Nancy, was a real favourite and someone I wanted as a companion. I still have an AU idea about Nancy and Jamie on the TARDIS with Nine who gives into his inner domestic desire.

if you don't mind I'll head back over and reply within the next day or so.

Hey, I've been known to resurrect threads that are months old - I don't mind it all. I'm always up for discussion.

Haha, that was amazing. Celery is good stuff.

From the list, I see no reason why you shouldn't continue 'Most Truly the Gentleman,' seeing as nearly all P&P fangirls are all for Darcy/Elizabeth. *pokes Naphy*

It has always been one of my life goals to imitate a stalk of celery :)

From the list, I see no reason why you shouldn't continue 'Most Truly the Gentleman,' seeing as nearly all P&P fangirls are all for Darcy/Elizabeth.Damn you. I actually have large pieces of that sketched out, but the problem is that there are really three stories. The parts I've posted only deal with the Elizabeth/Fitzwilliam romance whereas the other two parts are Darcy and Georgiana on the Continent and the *actual story* where Darcy comes back and discovers what's happened in his absence. Actually, if I were seriously going to restart it again I think it would have to be entirely from Darcy's perspective on his return- coming back and having no idea what was going on. I have a few very lovely scenes where he meets Jane and the extended family and makes all sorts of conclusions about the kind of woman *Elizabeth Bennet* must be before he goes off to track down Richard and the missus. Anyways... I'll stop rambling, but I'm not entirely ( ... )

Bunnicula! That was one of my favourite stories...

The Hogwarts Squid wishes to kindly tell you that he has *much* better taste in partners. If you wish to write such a travesty please to not be sharing with the poor traumatized animal. Think of the suckers!

You make it sound like it eats them... in an ingesting sort of way.

'Doobie' perhaps? I've heard it told that he can get a hold of some mighty impressive wands.

Travesty?! Neigh, it would be a tapestry!
H.S. Quid covers both the mellifluous appendages and the animaltastic side of things.
The potter-verse is full of non-squick Teflon ghosts...
Heck, Jar Jar Blinks could be a genie with two bottles.

Think of the suckers!

That would certainly hit an interesting level of squick 0_0

Damn you. Mightily. And for goodness sake, no bad wand puns.

As for your suggestions, the Potter-verse is basically squick pairing land supreme. There are just too many options.

genie with two bottles.

No more puns. Please.

I actually want to become a BNF. Not enough to, you know, try, or work for it in any meaningful way, but in a wishy-washy sort of way I really want it ( ... )

I actually want to become a BNF.

Meh. I have to say from my end of things that any brushes I've had with BNFdom have alternately amused and disturbed me. The Furuba story is my closest experience to actual BNFdom and, while the death threats amused me, I'm not sure that I would want a steady diet of them :) I suppose BNFdom could go well, but I rather like being obscure :)

And I still like Cassie Claire, so there.I actually feel a bit for the poor woman since she is the focus of *so many* of the BNF rants (I guess my sarcasm didn't come across clearly in my opening). Is there seriously no one else we can consider a BNF that crosses fandom boundaries? As for her writing... I didn't particularly care much one way or the other. Her style was good but the plot itself didn't grab me and while I appreciated her writing, it didn't hold me all the way through. I guess I'm largely indifferent to her actual stories, although I never cease to be amazed by how she's such a lightning rod for everyone's views on everything related to fandom. Even ( ... )

Yeah, but... I think it's really awesome to have legions of adoring fans. And I think it's the greatest compliment in the world to be hated. I don't feel sorry for Cassie Claire at all, because she has everything I want. Writing talent I'd give my right arm for, people who would kill for her, and people who would kill someone else just to kill her. Not to mention the whole getting published thing, and the being able to write on a schedule thing.

I must be doing something wrong. No strangers pester me when I start up AIM, I almost never get any kind of fanmail, and I can't remember the last time I got a decent death threat. *le sigh* No one even wanks about me anymore.
