Neale is just creepy

I really like the stuff that comes into my inbox from Neale Donald Walsh. I do.

But he do make me twitch sometimes.

Today's message?

"On this day of your life, dear friend, I believe God wants you to know...

....that there is a solution to every problem.Nothing is insoluable. Nothing. Do everything that you ( Read more... )

You know, I bet if you mixed real blueberry juice with chocolate syrup, dissolved gelatin in boiling water and mixed it all together, you'd have Black Jell-O.

See? Any problem can have a tasty solution if you just make it into a dessert, and add whipped cream.

That sounds almost terrifyingly good, actually.

Just so long as I don't put it into a Belle-shaped mould, that is.

You know, as much as I like that sort of thing at times... the idea that the universe is 'all good, all the time' I find pretty damn hard to swallow... especially when all the evidence seems to contradict it.

I don't mean to harsh your buzz or whatever, but that kind of "the universe is conspiring to do you good" message seems like a real truck load of BS. Because, if it is, then it's saving it up for later as far as I'm concerned. Not to mention I know that as bad as I have it, there are people who's lives are orders of magnitude worse off than mine. Like folk in Somalia say...

My understanding - the Universe is neither good nor bad. No tarot deck is either good or bad; you shuffle and make what you may of the cards you see. As go the odds, so goes the Universe.

Well, I know 'good' and 'bad' are matters of opinion... but some things it's hard are not to have an opinion about!

That, and somedays it feels like the universe is stacking the deck.

I refuse to believe that I'm ever handed anything that I can't handle, and that is without purpose. If I'm going to believe in karma, in fact, I have to believe that there is nothing that happens to me that I haven't chosen ( ... )

I think that, while this is an awesome message, it's very difficult to live.

Nobody said it was going to be easy, Lovey.

Optimism, like life, is not for woosies.

I think that's part of the problem, you know? I think that people think that an optimist is someone who doesn't really look at life, and ignores the hardships. That's not true--an optimist is a person who can look at all the hardships, and sees where the opportunies lie within it. And who refuses to be undermined by it.

:) Well, I think more than once I've been told I'm not a wussie.

I mean... I try to find the good, though lately, that's getting harder and harder. Between my health and Alena's health/autism, I'm having a rough time finding that damned silver lining.

Rather than looking for the silver lining, maybe what we're supposed to be looking for is the thing itself. Maybe we're not necessarily supposed to look for the good in a situation, but only to look at the situation in all its truthI think about Alena a lot, actually. From my experiences with autistic children, I think that there is something there in them that's important to know. We tend to romanticize them and make up pretty stories in our heads about them, trying, inadvertantly, to mold them into something that is more pleasing to us. But I think, the longer I think about it, that there is something very important there--something bedrock real about the whole of humanity. It's difficult to deal with, I know, especially when you're not feeling well yourself--but I think there's something really important there for you ( ... )
