I've been doing research to figure out if I can create a style that incorporates a Print link/button like what efiction has on it's story pages. Here's an example of what page looks like before you hit the print link/button Here here's what it looks like afterwords It probably would have been a better example to use an Angst Archive story...but the ( Read more... )

Have you tried out the Readability bookmarklet? It sounds a little like what you want, though maybe not the same.

okay I tested the bookmarklet, the problem is that when I save the page it saves what LJ displays not what Readablity displays. I'll have to see if Readablity has a FAQ and see if there is a work around.

if you find a solution, OHH please do tell right away.
I have several workarounds, from online solutions to ff addons plugins and whatever, but srsly, its all cumbersome...

why cant LJ just provide us with a clean print alike layout?!?!?!?

I'm looking into learning how to code Ruby so I can help out with the OTW and maybe create a code that will automatically convert OTW archived stories into ebooks...

I'm really hoping people will really use the OTW archive in conjunction with LJ or in the place of LJ.

I'm also highly annoyed that the LJ developers haven't done anything about creating a print version link/style. They know their code backwards and forwards.

I'm hoping after I learn Ruby I'll have a better understanding of coding and can hopefully learn how to make my own extensions. I did find BookIt at the MobileRead forums that has a lot of potential. Working properly it'll allow you to select text and will convert to LRF/epub/mobi on the spot. only problem is the developer has been awol and for some reason the select function isn't working.

or , if they are not going to the AO3 yet, at least, using their DW account, coz at least, that allows much much longer entries than LJ. Stories that have to be split up into several posts on LJ can easily fit in one DW entry ( ... )
