Fic: And in the afterwards... (Miami Vice)

May 05, 2007 19:25

This is something I've been noodling with for awhile. Thought it might go further, but I kind of like the stopping point I have now.

And in the afterwards...
Post-Redemption in Blood

“What's it gonna be, lieutenant?” Sonny said with more bravado than he felt. Castillo looked up at him with that way he had that told you he wasn't in the mood for ( Read more... )

afterwards, fic:miami_vice

Good. Works well in context, and the pov works and holds very well.

Waiting for the next part now...

That was fast!!

Know what you mean. I never intended the Holby City thing to turn into more than one scene. Now I have 30 pages and I am banging my head against the wall.

heh. I haven't had a chance to read that one; I haven't seen any Holby City yet either.

amazing amazing amazing amazing

amazing.

you even made me feel for Rico, which makes you a way better writer than anyone who worked on Seasons 4 & 5.

I don't want to be a grub, but i second the need for the next part...and you can use the word "sacred" and kill two birds with one fic!

heh, thanks. I actually love Rico as a character; I don't know what went wrong with those latter season writers.

PMT was a limited actor - but when they wrote to his strengths he was great.

This is just lovely, nuanced and sweet towards the characters.

"Didn't have a choice, when it came down to it."

That's such a great sentence, saying so much about the series in just a few words.

I'm also loving the way you're in there tackling Rico's bitterness, because it totally got stuffed in The Bucket, and has needed to come out for some time now. Great job.

thank you. Yes, this was a story totally motivated by the Memory Bucket. stupid memory bucket. At least it leaves holes for fic.

Just to say how much I'm enjoying these, and that I third the suggestion that there has to be more. Because yes, Rico has something to say about all this, and he never got to say it. If your partner and best friend just tried to seriously kill you, I think you would be a bit twitchy around him for a while - to say the least - and human nature being what it is, knowing that 'he couldn't help it, he was hit on the head and didn't know who he was or who you were or anything' isn't going to be enough.

I also love the way you write Castillo.

If you do the two sentences right, that's all he needs ( ... )

You know, every time you post a new fic your writing impresses me more. Because unlike some of the writers who worked on the show, you actually care about continuity and making it work, and that adds so much depth and realism that I have no trouble picturing the events in my head. (Not that I really wanted to picture Sonny throwing up in the parking garage, but that scene in particular made me go "Awww..." and want to hug him.)

Favourite line was:

Where would he go?

I loved that because really, how is Sonny supposed to pick up the pieces and go back to his old life? He knows that so much has changed while he was Burnett, and the people he trusts, who should be able to trust him, now have very good reasons not to. He's not Burnett anymore, but he can't go back to being the old Sonny Crockett, either.

god, thanks. I really appreciate it.

I'm a bit obsessed with the Burnett episodes, and I'm glad this first attempt at fic surrounding it worked!
