That's a good idea. I need to make up my nut mix with almonds and cashews and raisins and cranberries and take a snack baggie of it to school.
The salad I had was really a good salad, too--lots of good lettuces (spring mix), cranberries, blue cheese, walnuts--and then as a snack at school after my classes were over I had microwave popcorn, which usually make me feel full. AND I've had 2 L of water today. *sigh*
Nut mix. Definitely.
Fortunately, I fell asleep reading to the kids, and now I'm just sleepy.
Off to an appointment and then home to bed and try to get up at 5:30 to exercise again tomorrow. Ugh. Early. But good.
The mashed potatoes probably didn't help--they are pretty high on the glycemic (sp?) index, and might have caused a craving. I recommend low-fat ricotta cheese with Splenda or a Jello snack pack with artificial sweetning (10 calories). That's how I last the evening. (I've been dieting for two monthis--it sucks but it's worth it.)
Yeah...the potatoes are part of our leftovers and I'm trying to get those eaten. I had a great deal more carrots than potatoes, and the last 3 times I've fed off that meal it has been very satisfying. Not so much this time.
And does anyone have an idea of how to feel *full*?
Make yourself sick on jelly beans? (Probably not the recommended method. So, for what it's worth, your day was a lot more nutritionally balanced than mine.)
Have you seen Slings & Arrows? It's a Canadian show (mini-series?) about a bunch of Shakespeare actors, directors, and the evil corporate sponsors. The theme song is "Cheer up, Hamlet!" *snicker*
With this cold I have just the opposite problem. I forced myself to eat some supper but I'd been happy with nothing. Only I know that's not good and probably the cause of my low-grade headache I have.
Incessant coughing kills any appetite but I don't recommend it.
*hugs* Sounds like you did good, really. Some days are just like that. Sleep was a good choice.
Haha! Nut mix *was* my lunch, at 3 p.m. :) But I ate a cheese and spinach strata for a late breakfast, so that held me much longer than my usual cereal. A yogurt drink would only last me until 10 a.m., I think.
BTW, I wanted to thank you for lending out your husband to us a couple weeks ago, and please thank him again for all the lovely help he gave us!

I had my SALAD at 10:00 or so this morning and then the popcorn at "lunchtime" and then the omelette at 4pm.
The sleep took the edge off the frantic hunger. Hormones, as you said, are also a likely culprit.

And feel better!
I agree that the incessant coughing is NOT the fun way not to eat. Been there. Lots.
