I'm in a hotel lobby, trying to tire myself out so I'll sleep on the way back home in a few hours... and OMG, I HAVE TO TELL THIS TO SOMEONE!!!

Just minutes ago... I heard someone say the words: "el jay" and "fic" and "slash" and "ship" and "fandom"!!! OUTLOUD. A real, flesh and blood person! You have no idea how amazingly weird this is to me ( Read more... )

Hah, thats cool! I've yet to meet someone in RL that knows about fandom stuff, but I have to say it was really weird for me and Fran to say things like "Jate" outloud, and even "Bansh" LOL. Btw she says your name cool, "Claudia" but w/ her Italian accent. hee.
*yawns* and now im off to bed!

EXACTLY. Just a few days before I met this girl, I was actually trying to say "fanfic" alound and it sounds so... bizarre. And I was wondering how you pronounce some of the other fandom words because I'd never heard anybody use them.

Let us know when you and Fran hook up in California. You two are so cute :D

THERE ARE MORE OF US OUT THERE!!!! ;)

And I think "fanfic" and "fandom" is taken seriously because we devote energy into it. Whenever my dad makes fun, I say "Football" and he shuts up.

I'm glad you had a great time out there, hope you share pics, and fly home safe! ♥

Hee. Cold, but true. :D

I think she was a bit enamoured with HER role in the HP fandom cause she wouldn't stop yakking about how she's THE person to go to if you a need a beta reader for your fic and... I don't know. I have a hard time looking at it that way.

hope you share pics

I had TONS of really cool ones. Unfortunately, I lost my digital camera on 5th Avenue. I even know where I left it, but I didn't realize it was gone in time to go back and get it. Oh well.

Okay, beyond my jealousy that you get to go to NYC so much :p, this is really funny. I know once I was in a General Hospital fandom (I know), and I discovered there was a girl on the message boards who not only lived in Texas, but she was also an alumni of my university. We arranged it for her to come visit me at school for a day, and I don't know why, but it was kind of awkward. She was really sweet and I liked her, but I think it was one of those occasions where we were both far more shy in real life than we'd grown to be on the faceless boards. But it is freaky to see fandom and reality merge ( ... )

But it is freaky to see fandom and reality merge.

I was stunned the whole time. I would LOVE to have a friend or family member who was into it, but I don't think I could handle being one of those people who write: "My mom and I just finished this really cool Harry/Draco pr0n series we've been writing together. It's such a great bonding experience."

Dammit, somebody stole our book idea??? No matter. If Lost doesn't end with a pathetic squeak where nobody even remembers it exists, we'll try to cash in on the nostalgia and write our own adventures in fandom book. Fishy trolling my LJ, Gooseology, etc. We have a lot of stories to tell. :D

Well, you should hear Jen and I on the phone together sometimes. It is very strange to hear yourself say, "fanfic," "Jate," and all of our screennames out loud. It is fun having a real life friend who is into it, but it's also very, very weird. :p

But, um, yeah, sorry, the HP porn and slash is just... *shivers*

Yes. This book/movie idea is starting to come to fruition a little bit. Jen and I talked about it a little bit this weekend. She voiced my thoughts aloud when she said, "I see a kind of Little Miss Sunshine thing going on." It really could be a poignant character study if done right. I'm so glad you were my original co-collaborator on all this. :D

FANDOM RULES THE FREAKNG WORLD!!!!!!!!!!
WOO!!!

It's actually funny, cause none of my friends are into this, though a few know from me babbling at odd times, and randomly, the last time I saw one friend in the street, she asked, "So whats up with all the Jate...and..the skate thing these days?" I actually burst out laughing, and told her it was still war. LMAO.

Other than that, theres a POTC shipper in my class...she doesn't realise that I know more than she thinks. I'm a LOST fan, seriously, what does she expect?

I'll stop talking now...

*HUGS* hee.

OH OH OH!!! When it was the HP launch party night, there was a huge whiteboard at our Borders for people to write notes on. Someone had written something along the lines of...

fanfiction.net for harry potter fic.
And a few people had scribbled on the ships.

I was surrounded by fandom nerds there too.

FF.net is the lair of all misspelled, OOC EVOL in the world and I fear it so.

HP is the big one I guess so it's more likely to have reality and fandom collide.
