My books

Mar 08, 2009 14:30

Inspired by euclase, I took photos of my bookshelves. I'm afraid they're not super interesting because I do organize everything alphabetically by author's last name (with the exception of a few biographies that get filed by subject.)

they're under here )

books, cats, misc, photos

Looks like some serious reading........
What is the name of your tortoise shell?

Some of it is more serious (I have a fair selection of non-fiction) but a lot of it is pretty entertaining fiction. Lots of vampire novels lol.

My dilute tortie is named Zowie. I should've posted that, but oh well. It's rare that she'll actually sit still for photos like that, nevermind having a glitter ball on her head. :)

Zowie looks like she's thinking, "I must remain dignified in spite of this ridiculous thing on my head."

*sigh* I miss Pandora's belly and her snuggles.

She was surprisingly patient :)

Your shelves look so organized *jealous* ... ours are still a big chaos. I should have used some sort of system while putting mine in the boxes *lol*

When I move, I get a whole bunch of archive boxes (or boxes left over from paper at the office) and I pack books alphabetically (as much as I can and still use the space efficiently). Then, on the top of the box, in big black marker, I write "A to B", or what usually ends up happening "Beauvoir to Dante". It's incredibly helpful when unpacking. :)

Your books are sexy. Also very you. I love them. And bizarre! Because they're alphabetized, Milne after Meyer. XD

What's the folio on the bottom shelf after Anne Rice? The World of... something?

The World of Rodin. It's a nice glossy art book I got at a big charity used book sale for a dollar. (They had other volumes with other artists, but it was well picked over by the time I got to it.)

Alphabetizing is the easiest way to find things, though I could certainly organize by subject or something and find things just as easily. (it's just harder for other people to find things if they come round to borrow something) Plus I'm a bit OCD about it lol. And I like the quirkiness of the mix -- for example, a (auto)bio of jazzman Hoagy Carmichael next to Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel series :)

I had a bunch of other stuff on my shelves too (autographed Jason Isaacs photo, a TARDIS money bank, etc.) but I shifted them off to show off the books :)
