Let me just start out by saying my husband, The Gryphon, was right. I didn't believe you could freeze wedding cake for a year and, upon defrosting it, taste cake as delicious as on your wedding day. He believed, and he was right.

Sounds like a great time. I avoided the whole cake issue entirely as we eloped. I like pie so much better than cake. Why can't there be an apple pie wedding cake. That would be awesome. :)

One of the women I interviewed for my wedding book had a selection of pies in addition to cake for her wedding. She figured people could get what they wanted!

Congrats, and I'm glad you had a lovely anniversary weekend. We certainly don't begrudge you your anniversary time, and as it happens I doubt we'd have had time to chat anyway.

Happy anniversary to both of you! This piece about your anniversary is beautifully written, BTW. I'd love to see what the rest of your wedding looked like as the colours on your wedding cake, which is gorgeous, are unlike the colours of any other wedding cake I've ever seen. Thanks for the links! I've only had time to skim them for pictures, but I've noticed that you look beautiful and the cake is absolutely gorgeous in three layer form and OMG:
The cake was a sour cream chocolate chip pound cake with raspberry filling and rolled fondant icing.
I wish I'd been there to help you eat it. It sounds divine.

I think my friends were surprised to see me so done up. Considering my hair wasn't much longer than it is now, the hair sylist did wonders.

My husband's a foody, so we paid special attention to the food, and of course, the cake.
