Can't wait until I'm on the other side of this pregnancy thing. Until then, some more pregnancy-inspired thoughts.

Really? I mean, really? )

Exactly! I think that would entitle her to come up with a very unflattering nickname for him. Without knowing him, I can't make any suggestions, but I think this at least would give her license to pick on any weight gain he accumulates over the years.

Maybe,
but she'll be happier just leaving him now.

If it's any consolation my mare went 373 days before she foaled, and she was running and bucking the night that she did foal. Mares gestation is 341 days. You'd of thought she would of had a big monstrous foal but she had this little dinky foal.

Awww! Poor horse! If equine pregnancy is anything like human's, she must have been anxious for it to be over. I am thankful that at least I'm not an elephant, whose gestation period is two years.

I swear she loves being pregnant, she's back at the breeder's, being bred on her foal heat, which is 5-10 days after foaling. I think last yr she was bred on April 15th, and foaled on June 2nd, and now they are waiting for the egg to get a little bigger, before they breed her, and then she'll come home after u/s her at 15 days pregnant. The one yr we didn't breed her, she jumped in with the neighbor's yearling stud, and was bred by him.

So for the last three yrs of her life, she's been not pregnant for like 24 days.

Certainly seems like she loves being a mother!

I went into natural and spontaneous labor three days past my due date. I was even expecting to be in at work the next day when the contractions abruptly started. I was, sorta, since I gave birth at the hospital where I work. ;)

It'll happen when he's good and ready, and we'll all be waiting to love him to pieces. :D

Well, I was just about to update with the fact that the non-stress test went well. Apparently, he's absolutely fine in there and just waiting until the conditions are right. Like you, I'm going to continue to work until it's obvious that it's started.

Looking at your smiling picture of your little one right now makes me remember my baby kicking when he heard her laughter.

I can't wait to meet him. And Maddy's great with little babies at daycare, so I know she'll do okay with him at a meet and greet.

The hard part is figuring out when and where that'll be. :D

Good luck and have fun with these last days of being pregnant. I won't annoy you by telling you to get sleep now. I'd rather remind you that I'm here if you start doubting your sanity once he's here. :D

Thank you! He'll be at Otakon, but mostly in our hotel room. If you come to Otakon with Maddy, I'm sure we could work a time for her to meet him. Of course, he'll be so little at that point he might not respond to her very much. He might, however, recognize her voice!

My friend's 4th child was over 2 weeks late, and nothing she did -- walking included -- brought on contractions.

We went out for Chinese food one night.

She went into labor the next afternoon.

Don't know if it was mere coincidence or the kung pao chicken, but it was interesting.

Mmm. I love Kung Pao Chicken. Maybe I'll have The Gryphon bring some home.

That's actually one of the ways that's mentioned in "What to Expect When You're Expecting." And my sister says I can try using my breast pump, but I'm afraid all that will do is start me leaking!

I tried sex, walking, jumping and spicy food around my due date, which was a Saturday. Didn't happen.

So I figured I should stop stressing out about it and went back to my usual routine. And Maddy was born just before 6 am on Tuesday. Go figure. :)

Personally, I think that staying calm is best, in most situations. Something I learned from my dad, who always taught me not to always anticipate the worst. He's the cheeriest guy I know!
