Our Kung Fu Panda sleeps a good portion of the day. I'm hoping sometime to capture him in one of his brief periods of alertness, He has the sweetest blue eyes, a nice contrast for his brunette hair. When I stepped on the scale this morning, I weighed in at exactly 1.5 pounds less than my previous highest weight of all time. Hmm. At least this time it's arranged in a very different way, and there's a purpose to it. (And a very cute, very welcome purpose.)

I am very much looking forward to the biggest one-day weight loss of my life!

So I'm waddling down the street today, on the way to mail the bills I figured I ought to pay before going into labor. Una is sniffing happily next to me, as I pause periodically to pull down the maternity tank top that fit a lot better before the baby started moving downward.

I just got back from the non-stress test, and the baby's heart rate is fine. In fact, he was very cooperative. They like to see the heart rate go up and down several times, which typically happens from movement (although it can happen for other reasons, too). I had meant to take flattering self-portraits of myself during my pregnancy but didn't get around to it until the day I was due! One of the hardest parts was getting the draping right by the time the timer went off, but I ended up with a few keepers.

Just a short update to reassure everyone that I'm not yet in labor. My doctor ordered what's called a non-stress test, which I did this afternoon. Apparently, it's something they do for older mothers. They hooked me up to a heart monitor to listen to the baby's heart beat for 20 minutes. Everything was good, so they sent me home ( Read more... )
