I hate it when we change times, especially when we set clocks forward and loose an hour, because it takes me to or three weeks to get used to getting up an hour earlier. 5:30am is bad enough.

I adjust to that easily enough, but the animals are forced to change to match the schedule I am forced to follow, and it's difficult for them. The fall switch is hardest for the horses. What bugs me is the persistent claim that it "saves energy" when all it does is shift the usage around.

I agree. Pick a time zone and stick with it. Until I can make a daylight withdrawal in the dead of winter, no one's "saving" any daylight. Stop kidding yourself!

Sorry, it just makes me rant...

Me too. It's just stupid, and really appalling how many people still believe that it "saves energy." OK, if you like it because of the extra hour of play time in the evening, admit it. No energy is saved any more.

It's the politics of lemmings. The politicians get to pretend they are doing something useful, even though there is no evidence at all that it achieves anything. And then, as you say, the rest of the "Me-too Clan" have to follow along.

It was supposed to save electricity, and maybe did that back in the 1930s. Now with energy use so diversified and large, it can't do anything but shift the usage around. So people don't turn lights on in the evening for an hour, but instead they drive their cars somewhere to play golf which they wouldn't have done at that time otherwise. It's popular with some because of that extra hour of daylight recreation time in the evening. So if that's a big deal, just do it for the whole year.

March is a magnificent month! I'll look for our flowers later on. It should hit 50 F today, which will help bring them up.

I forgot that DST was coming. Headaches and eye tics every Spring O_-

I always seem to miss at least one. I have to reset the outdoor lights' timer,as well. Lights are coming on in daylight even now.

Our outside lights are on photocells and still seem to go on and off at wonky times. The thing that always cracks me up is when we have a power outage overnight (not unusual here.) When I come in there will be random lights turned on all over the building. Something about the way the switches and relays work randomizes them so the switch can be OFF but the light is on.
