Lightning Shard and Pilot Light alarin612 August 11 2007, 14:04:11 UTC
Perhaps the most famous relationship in our community is between our two greatest leaders: Pilot Light, leader of the Upholders, and Lightning Shard, founder of First Line. It shouldn't surprise us how deeply in love they are, but it was only through chance and tragedy that they ended up together ( ... )

Lightning Shard and Pilot Light (Continued) alarin612 August 11 2007, 14:04:47 UTC
-Continued from previous comment-

After Lightning Shard's arm was reattached and Pilot Light had recovered from their wounds, they went flying together as they had long ago. It depends on who you ask which one made the offer, but I have it on good authority that Lightning Shard approached Pilot Light. Nevertheless, whoever was approached by the other accepted.

No one knows what was said in the skies over Denver. There are a few clues. First, a transient found a set of Pilot Light's targeting goggles and one of Lightning Shard's masks and, claiming that they fell from where the two were hovering near Lakeside Amusement Park, sold them for 1.25 million dollars to a private collector who later donated them to the Denver Natural History Museum. Second, at the Superhero Social held in Salt Lake City a week later, Lightning Shard and Pilot Light danced only with each other, left together, and anyone could see they were finally allowing themselves to be in love.

Besides, he just asked me for advice on where to get a ring.

Lightning Shard and Grimshadow alarin612 August 11 2007, 14:19:57 UTC
Ever since Grimshadow confronted Lightning Shard over Pilot Light's affections, relations have been understandably strained between them. When Lightning Shard left the Upholders, Grimshadow took it as an attempt to get Pilot Light to leave the team, too, and became supremely smug about the fact that she had stayed ( ... )

Sundog and the White Blur alarin612 August 11 2007, 14:49:56 UTC
Sundog's wife, Selene, was killed in the Tyrant Takeover Incident, right after she closed the wound where Lightning Shard's arm had been ripped off. Seeing that she was the one keeping his enemies alive and well, the Tyrant decided to end her ( ... )

Grimshadow and Dragonstrike alarin612 August 12 2007, 07:06:40 UTC
I would have called this a simple case of mutual passion, except that it has lasted so long. Grimshadow and Dragonstrike met in Europe, I know, though little else. The other Upholders likely know more, but they rarely mention it. I have heard they were both seeking the final piece of Dragonstrike's armor: her Drakewing Tiara. Why Dragonstrike was after it is obvious, but Grimshadow's reasons are apparently personal. Suffice it to say, when he met the woman, he decided the tiara would be just as safe in her hands as in his.

When they returned, they were apparently already lovers, and have remained devoted to one another ever since. It is a simple relationship; they are two highly trained masters of combat who respect and love one another. They thrill in fighting alongside each other, and from what I have seen they compliment one another in battle remarkably well. Faithfulness, respect, and affection; that is all either asks or expects from the other, and each is perfectly willing to give it.
