Lightning Shard and Grimshadowalarin612August 11 2007, 14:19:57 UTC
Ever since Grimshadow confronted Lightning Shard over Pilot Light's affections, relations have been understandably strained between them. When Lightning Shard left the Upholders, Grimshadow took it as an attempt to get Pilot Light to leave the team, too, and became supremely smug about the fact that she had stayed.
According to Lightning Shard, Grimshadow was completely wrong, and since the ninja has the social sense roughly that of a junkyard dog, I'm inclined to believe my luminous friend.
At any rate, Grimshadow's perception was his reality for a long time. As far as I know, he never actually approached Pilot Light to profess his affection for her. I think he saw what Lightning Shard's sudden absence did to her and realized he didn't really have a chance. Still, he always blamed Lightning Shard for breaking his leader's heart.
When Dragonstrike joined the Upholders, though, the two found mutual attraction. It makes sense; they are both highly trained and extremely competent mystic warriors. Their simple but devoted relationship continues to this day, in fact. Thus, when Lightning Shard and Pilot Light got back together after the Tyrant Takeover Incident, Grimshadow did nothing to object on a personal level. He is still, however, suspicious that Lightning Shard will try to steal Pilot Light away from the Upholders, and the two are not on speaking terms. When they do speak, it's always about the job, and it's usually an argument that someone nearby has to break up.
I doubt they will ever come to an understanding; they are both proud and stubborn to the point of folly. Lightning Shard feels no obligation to explain his misinterpreted actions, and Grimshadow would probably never apologize even if he believed the explaination. Fortunately for both of them, Grimshadow and Lightning Shard have managed to avoid working together as a pair.
