I know this is a common problem right now but just in case: Livejournal has basically cut me off. My email comment notifications were just running late before, but for the past ~week apparently I haven't been getting them at all, and they're late to show up in my LJ Inbox too, which I'm not in the habit of using anyway. If you can watch it streaming for free, it might be worth putting it on and watching the opening (news reports about an alien incursion) then fastforwarding to the moments when the aliens appear. While ffwding, you can stop if you see 1, an alien, 2, the scene where a plane moves in the river, 3, what looks like glowing fungus on trees (and the subsequent campfire conversation is nice when everyone is talking.) IMO those scenes are really well done with great pacing and mood. But the rest is very, very skippable.
