Been thinking a lot about this article which was published a few years ago, "Why the British Tell Better Children's Stories." The thesis (which I mainly agree with) is that British children's literature, informed by pagan folklore, wry ironic humor, and a pastoral landscape full of hedgerows and gardens, is more inclined towards fantastical stories ( Read more... ) -
