CHARACTERS | OPEN TO ALL!! DATE | Nov 15-19 RATING | PG SUMMARY | There's someone (or something) out there that's pulling pranks on people with your face! Track them down and beat them up to show them who's boss!
Another day, another round of selling her monster drops for extra cash. Leviathan had settled into a routine of sorts as of late, and everything was going smoothly as usual...
Until she heard a certain comment aside from one of the NPCs, which caused her to perk a brow.
But, she assumed it was referring to someone else-- after all, Leviathan wasn't the type to go around causing trouble (At least, not if she didn't have to.) And so she continued on her merry way.
That is, she attempted to, but the stares and whispers from those she was trying to barter with inevitably grated just a little too far on her nerves.
There's a brief commotion as someone rushed through the crowds but once that disruption was gone; "Goodness, don't feign innocence with us! Just because some of us don't go out there to defeat all those monsters doesn't mean you players can just get away with doing whatever you wa-"
"Leviathan! That copy-"
"-nt around here. We saw you making off with some of our supplies earlier today and we won't stand for it!" the NPC claimed. A 'chorus' of unhappy emotes erupted around him once he finished; obviously they're in complete agreement-
Wait, when did Harpuia get here?
Dressed in his familiar green armor, her fellow guardian soon landed next to her and... Seemed to be out of breath. It would appear that either he's been chasing someone for some time now or that his jets were draining his stamina faster than it should. "That copy-" pant "-did you see?"
"Honestly!! With the way you all push us around! We won't stand for it. >( "
"Harpuia!" After months of not being able to warp around as they pleased, it was a bit startling to see him drop in out of the blue again. Leviathan's eyes darted back and forth-- between both Harpuia and the crowd that seemed to be piecing itself back together after the minor disruption.
"What are you talking about, what copy?!" the blue Guardian began to demand, but before she could carry on, another whirlwind rush swept through the crowd, this time knocking several people off their feet.
And there, in the alley, a flash of green and a glimpse of blue. Leviathan put the situation together quickly after that, and with a nod, grabbed onto Harpuia's wrist and started dragging him past the crowd of NPCs.
"Ah-!" Harpuia had barely caught his breath before he was pulled off and back into the chase. It took a stumble or two before the green Reploid was back on his feet, chasing their shadows through the alleyways of Mac Anu. Maybe they would have gotten to the Chaos Gate faster if the Doppelgangers hadn't lead them on a chase through the entire town first.
At least the two of them had the keywords for the area...
Despite that though-
"I can't wait to retire those copycats." Harpuia ground out. Really, to go from being the esteemed Four Guardians of Neo Arcadia to suddenly being treated like scoundrels. It just rubbed him wrong (or maybe the fact that using his armor for extended periods of time was draining his energy faster than it should).
Kageno already had a bit of a hard time approaching the NPCs as it was, even if they weren't really 'real'... despite this world being that of a video game, he couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more 'real' about them, and asking for things always seemed awkward and took him a while, should he have tried to do it on his own. So now, with everyone accusing him of theft and threats and of all things peeking at the female NPCs-- Well, things became awkward real fast.
And yet he had no explanation as to what was going on. Everyone was sure that it had been him!
After a few failed conversations, Kageno retreats to one of the quieter parts of town-- partially to stay out of the way, partially to think on what to do...
Yuukoku had finally gotten used to navigating without sight, and was currently exploring the town. He had spent most of his time in The World trying to get used to his lack of sight, and had been unable to do much during that time.
He too had had accusations thrown at him, and it was a little confusing. He hadn't done anything yet....so how could he be a troublemaker? While pondering, he entered the area Kageno was in.
"...perhaps it's a ghost...?"
He walks towards Kageno as he mumbles to himself, and doesn't seem to notice that Kageno is in his path. This results in him bumping into Kageno.
And it looks like another individual was starting to feel the strain of the event's beginning. What has The World come to that the NPCs had to accuse him of all people of eyeballing women? It had never been a topic of interest for the estranged Oak and he had no intention of changing that fact. Perhaps they would need to have a word with the GMs about how the game should be run; some of these pranks were just too childish.
Oh no, he was asking around trying to find the real culprit behind the pranks. After all, investigating strange incidents seemed to have become Hakuren's norm after partnering up with Teito- um... Well, this was a good way to pass the time until Teito showed up!
Yes, we'll go with that story.
So engrossed in arguing conversing with the NPCs was this Harvest Cleric that he didn't even notice the two kids in the corner...
"What indecent accusations!! Just what do you take me for? An elementary school student?!"
To accuse he, Albel Nox, Captain of the Black Brigade, of something as petty as theft and childish pranks? Woman or not, the shop owner was getting on the brandier's nerves. In a flurry of... shall we say, fail, Albel went to draw his sword against the NPC and stumbled a bit with the momentum cut short, cursing under his breath as the sword remained stubbornly in its sheath despite his jiggling and tugging

Fayt was having an equally hard time getting through town. It... There was definitely that sense of deja vu. Times like these, he was glad that they'd crashed in Elicoor II beforehand -- or maybe not. The whole suspicious individual vibe Fayt got from the NPCs was definitely something he could live without. That, and the strange outfit he had found himself in.
He'd gotten so used to the Elicoorian armor; the sudden change to the heavier armor was definitely throwing him off.
But imagine his surprise when - after dodging unfounded accusation after another while trying to talk to the citizens of Mac Anu - the blue haired teen happened across a familiar sourpuss? And one who had been frozen too.
"Albel?" he pushed past a couple of NPCs before running over to his former party member. "Albel, what happened?"

The blade brandier stumbled forward when he could finally move again, bafflement in his eyes as he squinted around with a snarl barely contained. His anger had been ebbed as he couldn't quite remember what he'd been doing to be angry in the first place, and the NPC that had riled him up had taken off back into the shop. This world, similar to his own in structure yet so different, would certainly take some more getting used to.
The familiar voice, however, caused him to whip around and his eyes to widen ever so slightly in surprise.
Well, at least it was the easiest worm to deal with, instead of those stupid women or that blonde baffoon or the bratty children or that loud-mouthed old man.
"You... What are you doing here?" And then, after a short pause to consider-- "What happened? Hell if I know. The last few minutes are fuzzy."
'It's nice to see you too' is what Fayt would have liked to say. But knowing Albel, such a response would most likely get him nothing but an earful and bodily threats. Not that Fayt was worried; he'd beaten the former captain of the Black Brigade before and strange armor or not, the teen was sure he could do it again. If need be.
... And preferably not in the middle of a town that seemed intent on blaming him for every little thing.
"You don't remember? Were you paralyzed...?" the teen shook his head. "Well, I'm not entirely sure how I got here..."
Because Fayt can still hear the concerned whispers of the people around them. And with Albel's personality, Fayt really didn't know if he should believe the accusations or vouch for his teammate's (he hesitated to call him 'friend' if only because Fayt liked being uninjured) innocence. He'd like to believe in the latter but...
This was rich, wasn't it? Someone going around pretending to be someone they're quite obviously not (and Prometheus couldn't wrap his head around why anyone would copy him of all people). It made him laugh; what fool would ever want to be him or his sister? Humans...
"Listen, trash, you're lucky we're still in town otherwise," his expression turns psychotic, "You'd already be deadmeat."
Granted, some of the stuff he was being accused of sounded like something he would do (or did, as a couple of NPCs had labeled him a PK-er) but really? At such a low level, even Prometheus knew that pulling something like that would be detrimental to his and Pandora's health. If they were going to get PK'd, he was going to make sure that their attacker went down with them.
"Where'd that poser go? There's a lesson that they need to learn."
Pandora didn't bother arguing with the NPCs-- they were hardly worth their time on a good day, so trying to deal with them now would simply be a bigger waste of time.
This, however, was a rare moment in which the witch looked visibly annoyed, if only just a little. The matter would not be resolved on its own, she was sure of that-- and if someone really was going around posing as herself and Prometheus, then this needed to be cleared up fast. Red eyes scanned the streets, looking for her seemingly elusive mirror image. If the complaints were this raucous, then surely the copycat wouldn't be far...
There! She'd hoped the reaper had seen it as well, but for the sake of clarity--
He'd only barely caught a glimpse of pale blue disappear around the corner, but Pandora's comment was all he needed to be sure. With a grin and a quick "Let's go!" to his sister, the Flick Reaper took off to follow their shadows. Time to teach these posers a lesson.
Once they caught up at least. This was probably the first time in a long while that Prometheus and Pandora had to chase down someone (the last time they were in a chase like this, they were...)
"They doubled back to the Chaos Gate! Pandora, this way," he shouted after collecting the third keyword. There was a short cut through the back alleys of Mac Anu that lead back to the dome; Prometheus was planning on making use of it to try and head off the doppelgangers. Alas, the programming for the quests simply couldn't let the players catch up until the fields so through the Chaos Gate they went...
And onto the field where the doppelgangers were waiting patiently.
Pandora hung back for the moment, simply observing. It was a good chance to size up their enemy, now that they'd stopped running around... and it wouldn't do to rush in unprepared, would it? Unlike a certain other sister.
With her breakfast safely tucked away in her stomach and a not-as-good-as-Mrs.-Orange's cherry cake from the specialty shop in her hand, Amaterasu had taken to wandering around the rooftops of Mac Anu. The NPCs seem to be a little too invested in their gossip to take notice of the woman walking along the roof edge of the buildings above them, her shadow casting in various directions depending on where she stood
