Well, I'll answer in reverse for the things I can;

6) The tap water is pretty good here. I like having a fridge with filtered water, but I'll drink iced tap water without issue. Water-to-go is pretty good for filtered water for take-away. There are several outlets, including the Raley's about town.

5) The Bosque is where you want to try walking. It's gorgeous! For easy hikes, I like going up to the tramway. If you want to drive a bit, driving up the east side of the Sandias and hiking up there is a nice jaunt. Living in Tijeras, you're already in a great area for strolling. As a right-placed Easterner, I prefer water-edged trails, but the Sandias are great.

Just don't go to the Bosque before July 7 or you'll be fined $1000. (Fire danger, fireworks, etc.)

1. Can't help with the dentist. I go to Mary Anne (Ann?) Lucero because her prices are cheap and my partner doesn' have insurance, but I've only used her office for cleanings so I can't vouch on the other stuff ( ... )

1)Recommendations for a good dentist, preferably one who accepts Presbyterian insurance. Especially anybody who has had their wisdom teeth out and/or a root canal and has a dentist who is competent and humane.

Dr. Theresa Mondragon DDS

I love her office and all of the ladies that work in it.

She will refer you to:

Dr. Traub who does oral surgery. He took my wisdom teeth out. I have also recommended to two others to go to him, and they have both had wonderful experiences.

Thanks! I have pretty big dentist phobia, so I'd like to go to someone who I know is gentle & does good work. Do you think she'd be good with patients who have lots of anxiety around dental stuff?
And double thanks for the wisdom tooth recommendation. I'm scared about it, but I need em out in the next year so...

2) Toyo mechanic 262-2886 7901 Zuni se, i would not call them cheap. but i don't really know. they did a good job of fixing my now elderly 1985 toyota van. which vexes most repair attempts. The guys that run the place were toyota dealership mechanics that got fedup with the games the dealership played with customers.

6) i use a britta filter picher mostly because i live in a older house in a older neighborhood and i fear lead solder/pipes may be somewhere in the place.

2. I feel your pain, but unfortunately my car is new enough that I'm still taking it to the dealer. I love the mechanics there (which was not the case with the dealership where I moved from), but it's a Saturn, so that's no help for you ( ... )

I long for the day we have an IKEA. I'm sure it will be in RR, not Albuquerque, but still.

Sometimes I find IKEA-like furniture at TEMA, and that will have to do.

Yeah, we're waiting on delivery of a CD rack from there that more-or-less matches one we already have from Ikea. And cost about the same, so that's good. The bad news is it had to be special ordered from Denmark. So we ordered it in April and it should be in sometime this month. Here's hoping. Meanwhile, our CDs sit in boxes (our current CD rack is filled with DVDs; we underestimated how many of each we had).

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the thing with IKEA is that all the stores are close to ports, on the theory that water-shipping keeps costs low. Their location map seems to bear this out:

It kind of sucks. I have a couple of TEMA pieces, but I really had to save my pennies for them.
