your computer has nothing to do with it; I'm on a Mac, too.

on Geocities, go to Create & Update > File Manager > Easy Upload.
choose your file [which you should name stylesheet.css in Text Edit] and click upload.
when it's uploaded, you'll see this message:

Upload results
stylesheet.css
- Uploaded successfully

and you're done.

I did exactly that and i kept getting this message:
Safari can’t open the page.
Safari can’t open the page “http://geocities.yahoo.com/filemanager/upload”. The error was: “POSIX error: Is a directory” (NSPOSIXErrorDomain:21) Please choose Report Bug to Apple from the Safari menu, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message.

...do you have suggestions?

it's possible that you're viewing the error page Safari stored in it's cache the first time you did it.
I'd say you should empty your cache, clear your history, and quit Safari for a minute. It might help.

Open Safari back up and try to upload the file again. If you still get the error, lemme know.
I don't use my Geocities account. I could upload it there for you and you can just hotlink it from me.

Are you still having trouble uploading the stylesheet? If you are, you can use my URL - http://www.geocities.com/tellittothetrain/gslayout.txt. Copy and paste that into the "External Stylesheet URL" box in the customize area.

Hope this helps....

*Dies laughing*

Wow, when I post a layout, sometime between when I posted it and when you commented, livejournal changed their customization interface. That is... wow. Great. No wonder you were having so much trouble! Anyway, to set up the layout the way it looks now:

Go to the Customize area, and make sure you have S2 enabled if you don't already.
