Or jungle. I can't decide which because it's not one of those carefully tended flower beds, but there are Gardenias, Jasmin, Hibiscus, and other as yet unidentified plants growing everywhere. I must remember to close the shutters because I always wake up before 5AM, as that's when the sun shows its face around here. But at least I cleaned the whole house and now it's spotless and smells nice. There is something very satisfying in cleaning, and though I have a cleaning person, he doesn't clean as well as I do. Just now I read several posts about the creep at Readercon. His behavior is inexcusable, and all I can say is that he should've been banned for good.

Daughter is doing laundry, insisting on doing mine as well. I think she enjoys using the eco-friendly washing machine, the kind Europeans have been using and now people in the US can also buy. We'll be off to the airport soon. This has been a wonderful stay - excellent food, lovely people, and beautiful architecture. I would love to return one day. 
My iPad is still buggy, I think because I haven't downloaded any updates since I bought it.

The first thing I noticed on our way to the hotel was the distinct odor, a blend of sea brine, sand, and sewage. Yesterday we walked around a bit, near the Sophia Hagia District. Damn it, my iPad just conked out. It froze on the Stanza page and nothing I tried helped. It wouldn't charge either. This of course had to happen a week before my trip. I only bought the damned thing to read ebooks, but now all my ebooks are gone.

A large female staked out the backyard as a hunting ground. Sometimes there's a racket at night, sort of squawking sounds, and I think she's hunting ducks? I don't know what the squawk-makers are, I just assume they're ducks. I have yet to take a picture of the falcon, but I see her *flying around, and perching on one of the large trees.
