OM OK. So we had basically opposite reactions to the entire thing, but I can roll with that. To be honest I loved it, and what you say about it being really slow -- I reread HBP just before I went to see it and I was like hello, that book is slow too. I guess I never really thought about it, I just thought about things i wanted to see in film, like the sunlit days and zombies in the cave and voldie-asking-for-DADA-job scenes. Anyway there's not a lot to carry a movie, in that one. Just malfoy sneaking around and all of DD's memories. Which i guess is why they added the burrow attack scene, they need some action, and after my initial shock i got over it -- it was decent H/G stuff, and I love helena bonham carter as bellatrix ( ... )

They never even really talked.

my problem exactly. and yes, arguably, in the book they don't either - or they do, but we don't get to see it, we just get told it's happening. which i think is one of the major weaknesses with the harry/ginny in the book. i hoped the film would take that and improve on it - show us some of these quidditch matches that harry and ginny supposedy spent laughing together etc., and i was fully prepared to give the film its dues if it managed it...but they managed to bollocks it up with the "showing not telling" even more than jkr did! how did they even manage it ( ... )

While I think Bonnie Wright is increasingly beautiful in real life, she's a disappointing Ginny in many ways. But then, Daniel Radcliffe is a disappointing Harry in many ways. It obviously helps to just think of the movies as something entirely different from the books and from fanfic, but still - wasted opportunities abound with the films!

Having said that, I did overall enjoy it, just as a movie.

And Daniel Radcliffe was TOTALLY standing on a box. I'm sure you can actually see him stepping up at one point.

yeah, i didn't believe the ron/hermione at all, but that might have been the acting rather than the script ... ooh, who to blame? i have to disagree with you on emma ://

i just think "don't call me coward" doesn't fit into their vision of snape as a badass. he's not a badass in the books! well, not so obviously. in my opinion.

I think Ginny was pretty cool in this, but the romance was not as convincing Convincing as what, the romance between two snails?

ahh i love that icon!

agreed on ron and lavender's lack of dating! should have been more hand-holding in corridors etc.

someone in our theater just went "WHAT IS THIS FILM" which i thought was fabulous.

this made me cackle SO MUCH th'other day when i read it the first time. so. much.

felton is on twitter! and yes, rupert is better looking than ron should be! but mcgonagall is really young and sexy in my head :/ i know that's kind of wrong, but she is described as having black hair, not grey. grah.

Ah, you made me feel better for not being all that enthused about this film. I would go see it again just for the laughs and Tom Felton. I was never a Felton fan before this, but he did an excellent job. And I loved how much I laughed in this movie. (Pincers! LOL!)

But as you say, Harry/Ginny fell flat, everything else was just a little too... flat, and I'm kind of tired of Kloves screwing around with this universe in general. Blargh. (Where is screaming!capslock!irrational Snape at the end?? Where are the creepily-real-person-looking Inferi? Where is the climactic Harry/Ginny kiss in front of the whole common room? Why are the Death Eaters even at the castle if they're just going to taunt Draco and then run away with him?? Why does the Burrow burn down if IT MAKES NO SENSE and will screw things up later? Why does nobody react to events that happen [like the Burrow burning down]? Why does Harry not do his stupid Ginny-breakup-thing at the end? Like I said, blargh.)

oh my god i FORGOT about the pincers. that was singualar favourite harry moment in the whole film, hands down. possibly in the whole series.

yeah, i suppose instead of getting used to it all, i just get tired of it. kloves makes me so weary. :( word on the death eaters, word on the burrow - i don't mind them adding the extra scenes, but what's the point if they're not going to utilise it and if the whole thing just doesn't seem to make sense?? death eaters definitely didn't make sense.

yep. i think flat is a good word!

I adored how Harry acted while on the Felix Felicis. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that DanRad just acted like his normal spazzy self during that part, and it's hilarious. :D :D

The rest... well, yes. Talking about it makes me discouraged, so I think I'll stop. :)
