So this may seem out of the blue, especially for those who don't follow me on twitter. But I've just been feeling so out of sorts lately that I need to write this out. Feedback from caring people would be greatly appreciated.
thanks so much for the great comment. I really mean it, your input is greatly appreciated. I'll keep everything you said in mind as I talk to more people and figure some more things out.
Reading this makes it very clear where your heart lies on the matter and if you can trial studdying music without giving up on art just yet then I'd say go for it!! I know how hard it is to not be able to answer the "where are you going with your life?" question and the angst never having an answer causes, but take heart I'm 26 and I only just feel like I have an idea of what I'd like to do in the future!!
Oh and that realisation came entirly out of the blue while following through on a whim!!
I wouldn't say the problem is "Is this what I want to do with my life?" it's more of. "Is this what I want to do with the rest of my life?" For some people, Something they are passionate about, they keep as a hobby. "I love this thing. I don't want to stop loving it" For others they are not happy in a position NOT doing something they love. Here are some questions that might help you
( ... )
Thanks for the question suggestions. And I think you're right in that I'm probably taking too much stock in what others have to say, but I feel like at least getting as much external opinion and perspective as I can could serve to help me understand myself better. I've also heard from some older friends of mine that I've been talking to that this college thing really seems to take off in junior year for many, and that my feelings are found among many undergrads.
I know the wisdom is within me, and I need to give myself the space and time to consider it. Thanks Lala, you've helped me, and I'll be running these ideas and questions by an advisor in my dept. tomorrow morning.
