this conversation. While Michael waited for Tess' cab to pull up, he was forcing himself to stay seated on a bench that was on the front porch of Elise's home, overlooking the neighborhood. Needless to say, she was relieved when they finally pulled up in front of the house and she could get up. She opened the door as soon as it stopped and thought about how similar today was to the other day... yet totally different.

After paying the driver and giving him a good tip, Michael walked over to Tess and hugged her to greet her. "Hey. How was the drive?"

"Long. Okay, not really long. But it seemed that way. It was really hard for me to sit still. I'm kind of fidgety these days. I don't know what to do with my hands!"

"It's- uh. I kinda forgot."

"Hey look!" She said, happily and very loudly, letting go of him with one arm so she could point. "A cab!" Several people walking by paused to glance at her, but she paid no attention to them. "Good thing ish gotten 'ere. I can' stannup much longer." In fact, had they not been holding onto each other, she probably would have fallen right on her ass.

Michael didn't notice any of the people that looked at her, which was probably a good thing. Had he noticed a bad look given in her direction and he would have probably tried to start something with someone. Anyone. It was way too easy to get a rise out of him when he was drunk.
As soon as the cab stopped, Michael helped her in and sat next to her. "...we're goin' t'my place, yeah?"

Tess rolled over and tried to swallow, but her throat was so dry and her tongue felt so thick, she couldn't. Her eyes fluttered open to see that it was very early morning, as the air was just turning grey. Drunks always woke up too early. She groaned... and had no idea where she was. That was not her bedroom window.

When he heard her groan, he frowned slightly in his sleep and turned his head towards her direction yet he didn't wake just yet.
