I'm now in the small city where I'll be spending the rest of the year, Vierzon. I got here yesterday, on the same train as the English assistant at the same school. We were picked up by one of the English teachers, David, who his hilarious. Everyone here is very nice and helpful, but everything is still very overwhelming and confusing still. I ( Read more... )

Wooooo! Where in Uruguay is she/he from?

I'm so glad that you've got internet. I've never been happier to be poked.

He's from Montevideo. He had to fly through BA, though!

Never been happier to poke you! Some sites are blocked, since this is a school, but livejournal and facebook are both a-ok!

You should see if he's been to Colonia!

Also, what kind of dirty sites are you looking at that are getting blocked?

He has, and says that it's very pretty.

Nothing dirty! I would understand it then, but it won't let me read one of my web comics, the lesbian blog, or e!news...which is all very frustrating! Also no aim!

But at least you have internet! And I think one thing a day in another language is enough. And btw, I'm so proud of you for having the guts to up and move to France.

Yes! I'm so excited about the internet (though it doesn't seem to let me on to aim...)! You're so sweet for being proud of me! Although there was a decent amount of fear involved, I was more sad to be leaving than scared. Of course that was partially because of a certain lady whose name begins with K who needs to message me...

Angry cow to that depressive lonely feeling! That's one thing I sort of dred about the whole grad school thing (well... other then the getting accepted thing..). I love DC. And its also just so... familiar! I know what places I like to go to, places I don't. And new cities are just so...well.. you know..newish. (btw I typed 'newtish' at first...i'm not sure newtish is actually a word... I just wikipedia-ed newts and apparently they can regenerate new limbs, eyes, spinal cords, hearts, intestines and jaws...crazy! Also apparently you shouldnt swallow them. You should tell that to your students...if its topical....not tropical....although some species are.....okay I'm just going to stop typing now ( ... )

No worries, I still haven't made up a list of friends who asked for e-mails, much less actually e-mailed anyone outside of my family! Also, I need to send you an e-mail to tell you what happened before I left...although kf knows and is visiting dc this weekend. But! I want to hear more about your post, including who it is...

New cities totally are newtish. Extremely. Especially ones with terrible weather, like Vierzon. It's sooo cold here!
