Totally pointless (and late), but breathlessly enthusiastic reaction post to Doctor Who, "Midnight"

I don't know if mentioning one actor counts as a spoiler, but here's a cut just in case:

I AM VERY HAPPY ABOUT SOMEONE UNDER THIS CUT! )

Oooh, I hadn't thought about 'The Second Coming' for years, but it really was INCREDIBLE. May have to find it somewhere again...
And in answer to your question on the other comment, it is now coming up for 1.30pm here, but yes, your date stamp does seem a wee bit late. Sleep woman! :)

Have you watched Bob & Rose (well, it was multiple episodes, but it wasn't exactly a series)? I thought she was wonderful in that - such a crazy situation. Russell T. Davies must love her -- at least 3 projects of his that I know she's been in (probably more but I'm not sure.)

Anyway - ya, Bob & Rose = good good good.

And also, yes, she was tremendous in Midnight.

Yeah, I was kind of thinking that she was in "Midnight" because of RTD. He cast Chris Eccleston because of working with him before (and because Chris asked him to, since he loved Russell's work). That's one more thing he has in common with Joss Whedon - having a stable of actors he loves whom he calls on to do stuff. A big mutual appreciation society of people who work well together. I think that's the way to work, personally.

I may check out Bob and Rose - isn't she like married to a gay guy or something? I was kind of thinking of checking out Afterlife, a series she apparently did recently, but these things are a mite difficult to find if you're not in the U.K. How'd you get your hands on Bob and Rose?

Yes, it's about a gay guy who falls in love with a woman (from what I gather, RTD had a friend who had the situation occur -- gay and then fell in love with a woman, but still considered himself gay -- so he wrote Bob & Rose to figure out how/the mechanics of how that would happen, etc.) and it treats the situation really well. He doesn't magically become straight or realize he's straight or anything cheesy like that. It really examines falling in love, I thought, in a way you don't see a lot in movies/tv.

I found Bob and Rose on Netflix. :D If I'm looking for a UK show that I can't find on Netflix, I usually look at mininova.org.
