Crossing the Finish Line

I can't express just how relieved I am to have finally finished the story I was working on. It's just under 9,000 words and needs to be much shorter (2,000 words to be precise), but at least it's done. I've been working on this story for probably more than a year, off and on. It is indeed. Amazing to think that she has finished an 80K word novel in a month for Nanowhatsitmo, and a year to finish a 9K word story. Maybe we have to find good writing habits together.

I know, isn't that funny? But I think it's the difference, for me, between the grand gesture and the habitual, steady progress. Basically, it's the old fable about the turtle and the hare. It's time for me to try the turtle's approach, for once.
