Now that we're into season two, you'll probably hear less and less from me... I mean, this is where it all just starts getting consistently fabulous - 24/7... The lads always look amazing, the partnership is just sublimely smooth and gorgeous and enthralling to watch, the stories get consistently good enough that I don't often have any problems ( Read more... )

Thanks for spending time on Cowley's speech. It was a good one.

Yes, lots of good partnership in this one. I also love that we get lots of back story.
You're thinking of posting graphics for the eps? Sounds wonderful!

Thanks for sharing. :)

There's just *mountains* of stuff I love about this episode I didn't even go into... The partnership stuff, a lot of little scenes between them, the bang-up job they did with Ray working out his shit about the violence, and OMGSQUEE all the great angles we get of the loft (I have a soft spot for this set.)

Hmm... I sense I've created trouble for myself by mulling over the possibility of simply going graphic... But really, I'm gonna run out of things to say VERY SOON.

Yeah, they seem to touch on the issues without actually getting into them at all - or really justifying their existence/actions actually, cos the Perry Mason moment doesn't actually prove anything. That said, you can't get too far into that sort of thing in less than an hour, and bearing in mind the target audience, so it was good that they raised it at all, back then...

And they are looking rather good, aren't they?! *g* Would love to see image posts for the eps too, always gorgeous...

Well, I think they *thoroughly* (and very satisfactorily) cover Ray working through some rather profound and deep issues about his part in the violence, so no complaints there. And the level that I thought they could of added to this they *do* explore a little in other episodes over the series. So I hate to sound like I really had any problems with this episode, because golly - It was jam-packed with wholesome goodness. :-)

And in the context of the time it aired (and the massive volume of what the *did* cram in) they really went above and beyond with it.

I'm trying to ignore the "Perry Mason" thing - Not because bringing in the source was a cop-out (that works for me ok) - Just because they SLAPPED that on so quick and fast at the end, it kind of ruined the quality and depth the rest of the episode got. But it's easy enough to overlook in an otherwise really, really excellent episode.

The pretty is BLINDING. Really.

Ah, interesting that somebody actually concentrated on Cowley. I must admit I was to busy drooling over gorgeous Doyle *G* But you got a point there about the responsibility and keeping the lads in check.

Oh and wallpapers sound very good to me *G*

I really respond to Cowley in general and this episode showcases him *beautifully*. But don't think that my admiration for his speech (or his general conviction that what he is doing it right) is an entirely *positive* thing in my eyes... I mean, I feel just as horrified and alarmed at his speech as I feel admiration for his integrity and conviction... I'm at that age where my heart and conscience and politics support Geraldine Mather completely - and yet, I'm old and tired and sick of living in a filthy war zone run by animals and I *WANT* to believe in Cowley... Deep in my heart I *want* his reality and justice and conviction... But then I feel the revulsion and duplicity in me...

Anyway - maybe I'm better off making wallpapers than getting into all of *that*... ;-)

Ultimately it IS Cowley's responsibility to justify his department's actions. I always thought that Doyle and Bodie showed, in private, how they felt about what they did (well, Doyle did at least!) but in the hearing they weren't going to say anything that may sink Cowley's ship.

I've always loved Cowley's integrity and sense of justice and this episode showcases him *beautifully*.

I always thought that Doyle and Bodie showed, in private, how they felt about what they did...Oh yes - I think we got an amazing bit of television with Ray and what he was going though with facing his part in the violence and so forth. Very, very satisfying and I really think his character made some amazing growth. The *partnership* saw some really interesting growth as well ( ... )

You and the comments inspired me to add a few of the "seemingly most available" Professionals episodes to the eMule download list here, but given the 1-4 sources tops, I doubt I'll get my hands on them until I next come around to visit friends here, if even then. By which I'll have moved on from the temptation, of course, so keep posting and we'll see if that inspires me to get back into it.

I saw enough to develop more from Bodie to Doyle, and like Cowley in general, but that's about it with some episode details for my memories or knowledge of it. Not that 3 episode downloads would change any of it either, but as said, we'll see. What's the saying, the mind is willing but the flesh... something?

Well, I'll keep throwing reviews out and we'll see what sticks. ;-) I can only recommend it but goodness knows, I understand resource and *time* limitations, only too well!
