Today's been the last day of real work, the rest of the week is listening to presentations. I've spent basically the entire day finishing my PowerPoint (bleh!). I had the absolute worst pizza today. I went to the lunch talk over at the reactor like I do every Tuesday, and finally worked up the guts to try the "toxic pizza" the grad students love so much. Hah! Even with the steady state value of rho, both the diffusion coefficient and solubility of radon in Kalrez are stable! My project has been salvaged!

And since Wojcik et alia messed up, I am the first human being to ever see these numbers and understand their significance. Which is trivial, but I still feel good.

Dr. Desrosiers gave a great talk on determining radiation dose from bone and tooth samples today. In addition to some horrifying stories about people doing stuff like standing next to Cobalt-60 samples and dying horrible, agonizing deaths as a consequence, there was one hilarious near-accident that occured just down the road from where I am now ( Read more... )
