Some of my favourite dialogue has already been mentioned, but there's an abundance of examples I enjoy.

And reviewing them was fun! )

Re: The Game...and they seriously expect anyone to believe that John is straight? Riiiiiight.

Oh, yeah! I sincerely hope TPTB continue to believe their message is getting through exactly as they intend and don't change what they're doing in the least. Their formula has worked a treat for me the last three years. :)

These are great! You made me laugh right out loud -- I can only hope I don't sound like John!

The thing that gets me about John's laugh--other than the obvious, of course!--is that it was two-and-a-half years before we heard it for the first time. That's just kind of appalling to think about. Poor John! And yay for S3 and all the times he gets to relax with his team.

Aw, you picked such happy beautiful fun moments! I especially like your take on "Phantoms"--I love the tension JF puts into that final scene, you can tell he's shaken up and wants to make everything all right just by sheer force of will. But then there's Rodney and his adorable whine of disbelief. Which John cannot ignore.

I also loved John's "go to sleep, Rodney". I like to think he says that a lot. Especially at night, you know, when Rodney wants to talk about his feelings and John wants to do anything but.

S3 has so many lovely, fun moments that it's harder to pick a mere three than point to a dozen. So many riches!

I also loved John's "go to sleep, Rodney".

Ah, yeah, love that moment, too. Especially adore Rodney's weary but determined "whine of disbelief", as you aptly put it, and John's mix of frustration and amusement and worry and tiredness, along with the sense of his knowing Rodney's unlikley to give up any time soon!

It's fun to draw a parallel between the end of Trinity and end of Phantoms, with each having to work to get back the other's trust and forgiveness--only with a lot of new water under the bridge and so a changed dynamic. But, still, fun parallel to think about.

I totally agree. Although I like to think that Rodney milked that injury for all it's worth. *g*

Oh, I love love love that moment at the end of "McKay and Mrs. Miller." I love the way that feeling of left-outedness flickers across Rodney's face for a split second, and then the way the team has obviously conspired to make him feel better.

And John's/Joe's laugh is a wondrous thing! If you want to hear more of it listen to the dvd commentary on "Conversion" and "Lost Boys" in season 2. It is completely charming and goofy.

Rodney's delight in having his place affirmed in the team is awesome! And the way the others show they're sensitive to how he's been feeling with Rod around and the emotional up-and-down reunion with his sister all at once makes me utterly happy. The team looking out for each other doesn't just mean with P-90's offworld!

Thanks for the tip about the commentaries. I never watch them, but I'll keep that in mind!

Oh, and another cool moment is when John shows Jeannie the video he made during "Letters from Pegasus." (Though I'm not really clear on why she never saw that before.) I hope Rodney realizes how lucky he is, to have such good friends who overlook his flaws!

The dvd commentaries, for the most part, suck. It's all the directors and writers saying, "Oh, and look how we made this hallway look twice as long as it actually is!"

But I was pointed toward "Conversion" and "Lost Boys" because they feature both Flanigan and Hewlett and they are a lot of fun!

Don't waste your time with the rest, though.

Another of the many scenes in this episode I adore. John's having that message on his machine all this time after it was written is remarkable, and a heck of a lot of fun!

It's always amused me that every effort by TPTB to make Sheppard seem straight only serve to make him look more gay.

-"What if he doesn't like to be touched? Will that work?" (cue fan montage of every casual touch between McKay and Sheppard; montage exceeds ten minutes)

-"How about me make him really impressed with the new guy's fighting techniques? That's macho, right?" (see icon)

-"Let's have the nubile young princess jump him!" (which gives us the most hilariously 'WTFgirlparts?!' face ever in the history of time--thanks, Joe)

Lol, the look on John's face is priceless!

You've hit many of the high points of their clever plan to demonstrate their hero's absolute, unquestionable straightness. Between the writers, the directors, and the actors, they've managed to practically remove the "sub" from "subtext" and I find it insanely amusing. :g:

Hmm, and we could add their idea to trap him in a time dilation field for six months and only have him succumb to the beautiful woman at the very last moment because that's.... Okay, well, that is kind of weird for a straight man, but it works because he feels abandoned! He's got issues! With his feelings!

Or how about have him fall for a gorgeous Ancient masquerading as a priestess, take her on a romantic picnic--and proceed to talk about Rodney? Err.

And cockblocking his buddy is always a surefire way to establish a guy's hetness, right? Homosocial bonding ftw! Heh. I really do hope they have lots more similar ploys up their sleeves!
