Let's hear it for mirrors
Characters: Yuca Collabel and Kurotsuchi Mayuri

Summary: Kurotsuchi decides that it's time to experiment on Yuca a bit more- and they're both curious about his soul. So he makes him into a shinigami. Temporarily. Hey, what could happen?
It's late morning by the time Yuca finally sees the shinigami in the home that they're now sharing for a time- he smiles toward Kurotsuchi as he enters the lab with a small stack of handwritten notes that he'd worked on through the night, diverting a little and setting them gently on one of the tables.
Their past week and a half or so had been rather uneventful- Yuca had moved in, brought his meager possessions (and, with a slight reluctance, his horned demon cat, which he kept an eye on at all times, lest it get caught up in one of the shinigami's famous experiments), and settled in quite comfortably, given the surroundings. He knew how to be civil with Kurotsuchi, and the scientist was almost civil to him in return.
Still, this particular day, he was antsy. Fidgety. He wanted something to do, and after a moment of thought, he turned around to face the shinigami at work, clearing his throat for attention.
"I had a thought this morning."
