Place: [x,y]. Solving the picture puzzle snarkypotions July 7 2011, 06:59:45 UTC
When all the members of the rescue crew finally gathered together at the appointed spot, they found no one else in sight, not even a single presence. Instead, the only thing that popped into existence to greet them was...

A jigsaw puzzle.

But only for a second, because after that second passed, the puzzle broke itself into tiny little pieces, just waiting to be solved. Tick tock, everyone, tick tock!

Bubbles blinked. There was a picture there, but then it wasn't there and it was all in pieces! That could only mean one thing!

"Okay, WHO broke the picture???"

"It's supposed to be broken." Rin says with a serious tone. Because this called for serious business. Puzzles were hard, especially those that already looked like puzzles within puzzles.

"We just have to solve it!"

"It's a jigsaw puzzle," Kurapica said, just in case he wasn't Captain Obvious enough. He kneeled down and examined the pieces briefly. "I suggest we start with the edges and work inward."

When every single piece of the puzzle was finally in its rightful place, the roulette wheel started spinning right in front of their very eyes, the ball clicking its way over every number, summing them up. Faster and faster, everything blurring together until the ball flew into the air, flattening and expanding before the inky numbers slowly rose up and wormed their way across the piece of paper it had turned into, swirling and twisting into words:

The first puzzle is now complete ( ... )

Bubbles watched in amazement as the picture came to life right before her very eyes! Why, that was just about the neatest thing she ever did see. Whoever this Mr. Bad Guy was, he sure could do neat things!

However, reading wasn't really Bubbles' strong suit and she suddenly found herself staring at a big bunch of words. It was an awfully good thing she had friends with her! Hopefully, one of them was better with words than she was.

"I can read that just fine," she assured everyone. "But maybe somebody could read it out loud, anyway? It might be important!!"

If this mastermind truly did have such power to make certain spells come alive, then Kurapica wanted to exercise the utmost caution. He wasn't familiar with this type of power.

In any case, as soon as the letters appeared, Kurapica was already beginning to analyze the riddle, until Bubbles started speaking.

"It is important," Kurapica agreed. For a moment he considered if reading the words aloud might affect anything, until he decided that it was unlikely, and he read them off anyway.

Sango blinked at the movement, a little in awe. Puzzles and riddles--they aren't her strong suit. When is storming the place supposed to come in?

"The beginning of the middle, the start of the end... What's that even supposed to mean?"

Place: Hex's Maze. Moving towards the tower snarkypotions July 7 2011, 07:13:04 UTC
The tall walls of the maze rose up before them, a faint shimmer across the entrance, indicating magic at work. Not much guessing was involved in figuring out what it was for though, as a scroll hung in the air, waiting to be read.

Of all those gathered here, only five may enter. Choose wisely or forever rest in peace.

And if anyone tried entering from elsewhere or flying directly towards the tower in the center of the maze... Well, they'll find out what Snape's wards are like, won't they?

"I know what to do! I can fly, so I'll fly up and see which way we have to go." Bubbles was really proud of herself for coming up with this idea.

So up, up she went...

There were perhaps two things that the heroes of our story should have been aware of about Snape-- No, three. First, he was a careful, careful man who planned steps ahead. Second, he did not like having his instructions ignored. And third, he was a wizard capable of putting up nasty, nasty wards. This was all, of course, not factoring in one Killua Zoldyck.

Which was probably why Bubbles immediately came flying right back to the entrance, though as the others could see when she landed, not under her own steam. Oh no indeed, it wasn't going to be that easy for her. And yes, she was indeed covered head to toe in a green, gum-like substance that was quickly hardening and very, very, very difficult to get off.

The scroll floated over to her.

Enter through the entrance. No cheating allowed.

well that didn't work checkmychainyo July 7 2011, 14:54:36 UTC
At Bubbles flying backward, Kurapica began running to her. He stopped just short of her when he noticed the green "gum". "Are you alright?"

He noticed the scroll and quickly read it. The mastermind's attention to detail was astounding, if very annoying.

"I'd like to go into the maze," he said. "I think I can make it through."

Place: Hex's Tower. Rescuing Octi! snarkypotions July 7 2011, 07:18:17 UTC
Having finally made it through the maze and climbed the tower, the heroes found themselves in the room that Octi was held captive in. The ropes were gone though, and the octopus seemed perfectly fine, but none of them would be able to draw close until...

Ah yes, a contract. Written in crayon. For every person in the room to sign.

I, ____________, do hereby agree that I had fun.

Perfectly harmless, right? Oh, and Bubbles, the crayon's yours to keep.

"Octi!!!" Bubbles cried out happily upon seeing her best friend, safe and sound. "It's Octi! Look, everybody! Octi!!!"

But when she tried to approach... "Why can't I get Octi?? We got to the end and everything!! Why can't I have him now??"

Details, after all, were not something Bubbles was too keen on noticing. The contract had completely escaped her attention.

Kurapica fell into a run to catch up with Bubbles as they neared Octi in the last room. He stopped short when Bubbles couldn't reach her friend. Don't tell him there's more puzzles and riddles to solve, just to get to Octi?

That's when Kurapica noticed the contract close by. Once he read it, his eyes narrowed. "'Agree that I had fun'?" he repeated. "All of this was just a game?"

Hanna kind of stares at the paper a minute and frowns. After all the magical paper that was down there, this might be a trap, but he just shrugs, signing his name.

"What ever, as long as we get Octi back, mister Nose can't do anything more to us"."
