Characters: Usagi/Sailor Moon/Serenity (buntails) and YOU When: March 6th - 12th Where: Usagi's Dreamscape Rating: PG - R for violence, depending Summary: The genki girl, the soldier, and the princess
When Rei finds herself in the arcade, she blinks for a moment or two, confused. The only time she ever comes into an arcade is with the senshi and as she's by herself... well -- perhaps she had decided to find something new.
She, of course, is immediately drawn to the Sailor V game, smirking to herself as she settles down to give a shot at playing it.
"Minako," Rei sighs to herself as she begins to play through the first level, as she has done so many, many times. "I never got a video game."

Neither had Usagi. Clearly, this must be fixed some day, but today is not that day. Instead, the game beeps and hums into a scene of Usagi's first fight against the Dark Kingdom, when she became Sailor Moon to save Naru. The tiny Sailor Moon does a rather good job of flailing comically about before she finally gets serious and fights.
Rei snorts to herself in laughter at the image. The senshi weren't with her, so this must be Sailor Moon's first fight as a senshi. It was typical of Usagi.
"You're lucky we showed up," Rei tsk's softly to herself as she continues to fight against the youma, as Sailor Moon, to make it to the end of the level. She's pretty good at the game, to give her credit -- not as good as Minako or Usagi would be, but good all the same.
Rei knows so much of what she'll see here, because she lived it with Usagi. But there are things here even the girls don't know.
Usagi's never talked much about her final wish. And she certainly hasn't talked much about her painful choice to fight alone after the Dark Kingdom so the girls could have those normal lives after all. These scenes play amid the others, in backgrounds to levels and as cutscenes.
Her joy to be reunited with them after all is of course sincere.
Hey, Sailor V is awesome. She was Usagi's hero for a reason, after all! And she does a good job of following all Harry's commands; this isn't one of those infuriating games that seem to thwart the player when you could swear you hit the right button in time.
The first levels aren't too hard. And Harry is treated to a scene of Usagi as Sailormoon, absolutely running and crying and flailing and screaming instead of, well, standing and fighting.
Then she gets serious. Because she has to save that tiny red-headed pixel Naru. She beats the youma.
If Usagi were there beside him, she'd pout at his laughter. Really, Harry, mocking her flailing and crying and- yeah ok it was pretty funny and the girls would probably be laughing even harder.
Sailor V keeps going, finding weapons ranging from her magical items Venus has in reality, to fanciful guns and shooters. The monsters get pretty quick and tricky.
It gets more serious when these levels are cleared. Painful injuries one after the other fighting monsters, standing under the unbearable pressure of cranked-up artificial gravity because she had to save the people important to her, the theme always the same: the crying, the panic, the fretting until that moment she stands up again to finish the battle, almost seeming not to even notice what she's doing anymore she's become so focused.
Ra is not sure where he finds himself but the arcade is of no interest to him. No, he wants what is hidden away, he has no qualms about invading the girl's mind to determine what she is.
This leads Ra to the hallway, with the ballroom and locked door. A calm, gentle and wise voice sounds from behind the ballroom doors:
We are a race of immortal beings who were born on the moon, protecting the legendary silver crystal, the holy stone which has been passed down for generations, we watch over and help the Earth to evolve into a better planet. That is our mission. Remember, Serenity.
Following the voice will lead to more about this, and the Moon Kingdom's end.
Ra does follow the voice, frowning. This is something he is not familiar with and after many tens of thousands of years ruling the galaxy, not knowing about this bothers him on many levels.
The locked door poses little deterrent for him as he enters, eyes flashing gold.
Inside, there is a buzz of expectation. Ra himself, a representative of the sun, is treated with respect but also with some caution by the normal partygoers; there are already rumors of the demon from the sun stirring up the tensions between Earth and Moon.
It's the princess who comes to greet him, unmistakably Usagi.
"You are welcome here if you come peacefully," she says, just as her mother would say.
Hawke has never seen machines like this, nor does he understand the significance of their brightly lit screens and knobs and buttons. He walks quietly past them, doing his best not to touch the machines until he reaches the hallway.
He turns, wondering if he will find Usagi in this dream. Part of him is still wondering why he is even here when he didn't consciously Dream Walk.
An arcade, this is to Fran's liking. The colors are not too flashy but cool and hey, there's nobody here. It's perfect for an antisocial froggie.
So he wanders toward the UFO catcher, the dating sim looking a bit too girly for his tastes. Peering at the interesting looking prizes in the machine, he wonders if his bad luck might just let up this one time for a prize.
Step right up, step right up! There are many amazing prizes in the UFO Catcher, from the plushie scepter (future memories for a limited time only) to the holy grail (a special on Adstringendum here!) and Luna-P (Chibi-Usa memories sold separately).
Ah, choices, choices. He's seen that scepter before, the real one, so that's the prize he targets. It takes him a few tries, but eventually he gets it and holds in at arms length, almost expecting something to happen.
And it does. There are images of a graceful goddess that is somehow still clearly Usagi - those eyes and that hairstyle can't be mistaken for anyone else, after all. She is stately, composed, even regal.
It doesn't stop her from playing with her daughter, or sitting on her daughter's bed to comfort her. It doesn't stop her from not just the enthusiastic love Usagi has for Mamoru, but a deep and passionate love of a wife for her husband.
