Characters: Usagi/Sailor Moon/Serenity (buntails) and YOU When: March 6th - 12th Where: Usagi's Dreamscape Rating: PG - R for violence, depending Summary: The genki girl, the soldier, and the princess
When Rei finds herself in the arcade, she blinks for a moment or two, confused. The only time she ever comes into an arcade is with the senshi and as she's by herself... well -- perhaps she had decided to find something new.
She, of course, is immediately drawn to the Sailor V game, smirking to herself as she settles down to give a shot at playing it.
"Minako," Rei sighs to herself as she begins to play through the first level, as she has done so many, many times. "I never got a video game."

Neither had Usagi. Clearly, this must be fixed some day, but today is not that day. Instead, the game beeps and hums into a scene of Usagi's first fight against the Dark Kingdom, when she became Sailor Moon to save Naru. The tiny Sailor Moon does a rather good job of flailing comically about before she finally gets serious and fights.
Rei snorts to herself in laughter at the image. The senshi weren't with her, so this must be Sailor Moon's first fight as a senshi. It was typical of Usagi.
"You're lucky we showed up," Rei tsk's softly to herself as she continues to fight against the youma, as Sailor Moon, to make it to the end of the level. She's pretty good at the game, to give her credit -- not as good as Minako or Usagi would be, but good all the same.
Rei knows so much of what she'll see here, because she lived it with Usagi. But there are things here even the girls don't know.
Usagi's never talked much about her final wish. And she certainly hasn't talked much about her painful choice to fight alone after the Dark Kingdom so the girls could have those normal lives after all. These scenes play amid the others, in backgrounds to levels and as cutscenes.
Her joy to be reunited with them after all is of course sincere.
The more Rei plays the game, the less she wants to continue. Usagi... she always sacrifices so much so everyone else could have so much more and she never complains about it. Not once.
The idea that Usagi would even fight alone to ensure that the girls had a normal life made Rei grind her teeth, but she continued to play the game anyway.
"We're in this together, stupid Usagi," Rei mutters to herself.
"It's alright!" Usagi smiled at her friend and sister. "You can play any game you want here, Rei-chan." Rei would even be allowed in the secret areas - though even Rei herself might not be able to manage the Dead Moon locked door.
But something didn't click right with Rei. The times she had been to the Crown Arcade, the games had been... different. Sailor V was supposed to be about Sailor Venus, not about Sailor Moon and her adventures. And even more than that, there was no way the public would know about some of the fights they had been up against, that had shown themselves to Rei in the game.
"How many more games?" Rei asked, finally, looking over at Usagi.
"Bunches!" She paused as she seemed to realize that wasn't quite right. "Um, but only a few seem to be all lit up and working. The racing game is. A dating sim, too."
Rei was pretty good at the game, but certainly not as well-practiced as Usagi or Minako, who practically lived in the arcade during their free time. But the more Rei "drove", the more Rei began to realize that this simply was not right.
It nearly made her lose concentration and crash her virtual car.

"Rei-chan?" She had a slight feeling she shouldn't interrupt, but that was ridiculous; this was all her own self.

"Usagi?" she asks, standing up abruptly. She, too, feels as if she's interrupting something.

"Come on, Rei-chan!"
The landscape they drive through might be very, very familiar as Usagi's daily life plays out.
