I go thrugh phases, usually once a year, find a fandom, play with it, and then move on. But some I play with longer. TG offers three people that make it work. Sometimes 4 (band) it works hader to think you left someone out.

For some reason, TG is working for me.

For those who don't like to slash it ... don't read it. Don't join, just to tell us we are wrong.

Just respect others. Something I know we didn't do well in High school. But we are adults. And lives that may not be of your liking.

However, you got it all wrong. I hate pointing people in the direction of this, but that wasn't the wank... THIS is the wank. Sadly. I wish it was just as simple as what you linked to, though... What was said in the thread I linked you to seriously hurt people's feelings, and spread so much hate/anger/sadness throughout the fandom, especially for the people mentioned (mainly Bellap74, who's never done a damn thing to hurt anyone)! There were personal attacks made that just weren't warranted... I personally find it hard to believe that people in this fandom can even be that shitty. I was enraged. Not liking a person's writing is one thing I guess (though I think fan fiction shared with the community is always shared in good humor -- people are being nice when they share with everyone else), but to attack them on a personal level like they did to Bellap74... that's just low. Cowardly and low. Nobody deserves that.

Oh, hun, I wouldn't worry about it. I still consider this fandom wank-free, despite of all this. The people in this fandom are so wonderful, and even when shit like this happens, they're so graceful and awesome about it that it's worth sticking around for. :) And wank like this doesn't come along every day either... it's just bad timing, that's all.

Though you're sort of right about the in hiding part. I can't believe there are people who feel that way in our community! :O I'm still sticking to my whole "get the fuck out of my fandom" thing -- I will do my best to simply ignore them. Those pathetic, close-minded idiots are just not worth my time or effort. Simple as that. :)

Alright, so I read through most of it (I could only make it so far) and I decided its kind of sad.

I don't know, I always hoped that fandom would just be about fun and if someones bad, then life goes on and you move past, but these people have so much hate.

I'm fairly sure I'm included in the mentioned "shitty artists" which I can reasonably agree with, but still, so what?

Something about this level of hate and wank and just.. mean personal attacks amazes me. What is wrong with people!?

That post continued? I stopped looking at it after a certain point after it seemed to've died down, but it must have picked back up.

I'm 20 years old, think Clarkson is amusing, but not physically attractive. I'm not into guys, so I can't really tell when a guy who isn't very, very good looking is good looking, so I always just figured he was okay looking? But I guess some people think he looks disgusting? IDEK.

I understand some of the complaints in the larger thread, but getting pissed off because someone is in the slash fandom and then making these gross over generalizations (that could basically work for ANY fandom EVER) is just a sign that someone is taking things a bit too personally.

Well, no, I was expressing my confusion as to his apparent hideousness. But I think one of the things with the commenter is that it was probably one of those people that hate Clarkson FOR his personality and therefore doesn't think people can like him just for that

It's all a load just to rile people up and express jealousy in hidden ways.

They have no idea that all the people they are hating on have such a large support team nor that the people they actually rooted for are not on their sides.

Post some ice breakers at TGS. SS and Wossy have done so and it's probably pissing off the wank crew as we speak. :D

And I hate to say it but there is going to be wank in every fandom. This isn't the first for TGS. I remember a small rile about a year ago that got thrown around. It was not this big of scale but those people never came back (not that we want them back).

I just don't get the point of it all.. I guess.. that's what bothers me.

I mean if someone writes badly written fic or badly written art or anything fan-made be it terrible photoshops, it makes me happy. I'm glad someone enjoys the fandom enough to participate in it. I think if someone honestly tries then I'm glad to see it and help them along their way. Elitism kills me, fandom is for everyone.
