It all revolves around one little symbol: $

So I had my oil changed in my Scion a couple of weeks ago. The lady mentioned that it sounded like the bearing in the belt tensioner was going bad. I mentioned this to Rob we talked about and I took it to a local mechanic with a great rep. Turns out it not the tensioner but the water pump which upon failure could overheat and possibly fry my engine ( Read more... )

bitchfest, this is bullshit, family, life, angry monkey, disappointments

That sucks. How annoying. I hope you're able to get that resolved so it doesn't happen again. That's not good.

How scary, you have to wonder how many little charges have slipped in there.

Oh yeah... she's like a small child. I told her she was coming off the account and this weekend I'll go visit a bank with her to take care of it. She agreed that it shouldn't have happened, but because my account had her name on it and she became overdrawn on her personal one it took from the next account with her name on it.

It ended well with her paying me back, but still I don't want to have that kind of headache.

I feel your pain. My dad is just now applying for a job after a year of unemployment (I'm just too busy looking at S&M porn on teh Internets to get a job, baby!), and my mom is now more like my kid than a parent because the MS has demyelinated her brain so much.

I remember thinking your mom was so cool when I was little, because she let you do whatever you wanted, whereas my mom was excessively overprotective. Now I realize how lucky I was. :/ For the first ten years, anyway...

Hahha yeah I will say that I did enjoy my freedom, which I had excessive amounts of, but now as an adult it's a bit tiresome to have to babysit her sometimes.... my grandmother calls regularly to ask if I've heard from my mother.

That's awful about your mother... is she living close to you and Carlton? Fortunately mine is sufficiently far away to keep from mucking things up too often.

She lives with us. She needs someone to give her injections, help out with daily living activities (she sleeps most of the day), etc. and she can't afford to live on her own anyway. She's very sweet (she always was), so she's not interfering, on one hand, but she also has a lot of trouble remembering basic things, completing basic tasks, etc., which is frustrating and somewhat scary. I mean, she was never a genius, but she used to be so much more intelligent. It's like she's a shadow of her former self.

It's wonderful that you're able to do that for her and I remember her as one of the sweetest women ever. It's good in a way for you to experience this. It's very humbling to care for someone else out of love. It also is prepareing you for children I imagine. Living so close to someone and seeing how time is changing them must be very painful. My heart goes out to you both.
