Who: Goede, anyone else who wants a part of the chaos Where: The foot of the World Tree Why: Goede's really unhappy about being dragged to Atlas Status: CLOSED
[There was an edge to the command, and footsteps could be heard approaching. The red-haired mercenary had one hand on the hilt of his sword, the other outstretched, a pale white glyph already starting to form in front of his palm. His eyes narrowed slightly, but his voice remained gravely calm.]
I would not do that if I were you. However... if you insist on attempting something so foolish, I'll have no choice but to stop you right here.
{OOC: Ah, light...the only element that Jay doesn't have...
Jay is elsewhere at the moment, so there'll still be time before Jay arrives...}
[Jay arrived at the lake deep within the forest. The water was perfectly still, displaying a flawless mirror image of the trees that surrounded it. Jay thought back at the image that had flashed through his mind at the inn.]
(This is it...this is what I saw.)[This could only mean that he had been led here. Jay stepped to the lake, allowing his shoes to touch the water

Descender...?clawedshadowJuly 11 2009, 18:18:15 UTC
[Goede paused in his spell casting but kept a hold on the spell. His own mismatched eyes glanced toward the source of the voice, narrowing as he sensed the man's mana signature.]
Hmph. No... your mana's strange but you're not this world's Descender. You're not the one I want to see... Stay out of the way then!
[With a wave of his normal hand, Goede prepared to launch the spell at the large tree before him--]
Re: Descender...?solemnity_cruxJuly 11 2009, 19:37:32 UTC
Hmp.
[Kratos' eyes narrowed. It didn't seem as if Goede was going to cooperate, and as things stood, either Kratos would have to fight him or watch the World Tree be burned to ashes. Since he could not let harm come to the tree, not if he wished to return home or save this world - the latter of which was less of an issue to him than the former, but still a priority, Kratos was left with little choice.
The angel gathered mana in his fist and took aim at Goede's arms and unleashed a Fireball. Killing him would serve no good, but stopping his attack was an entirely different story.]
I'm afraid this is a situation where I cannot merely stay out of the way. There is a Summon Spirit residing within that tree. If you destroy it, you will be stuck in this world permanently... that is, until the land runs out of mana, withers, and dies. Then you and everyone else would perrish, or so I would assume.
Re: Descender...?clawedshadowJuly 11 2009, 20:24:43 UTC
[Goede noticed the fireballs out of the corner of his eye and scoffed. Trying to stop him with just that--]
Uhn!!
(Wha-- That wasn't supposed to--)
[Goede warped to a safe distance away, staring at his claw in astonishment. There on the bone that had taken the brunt of the attack was a faint black mark that was already fading swiftly.
But that pathetic attack shouldn't have elicted even a flinch from him much less do something like interrupt his spell!!]
(I've... become weaker...? This is... fear...? I'm... scared...! No... why is this happening?! Why am I here?! No... No...)
[Some part of his mind registered the fact that the man was speaking but not the words.]
(You're not here... How... what...what am I going to do?? Unh... My head... hurts... I don't understand... I don't understand!! That.. man...!!)
[With a cry of confused anger, Goede hovered a few inches off the ground like he always does in battles and threw himself towards the man, claw outstretched.]
((OOC: Just so you know, I understood the discussion about the negativity being transformed into mana thing, but Kratos doesn't know about it, so he's assuming this is bad, bad news.))
[Kratos lurched to his feet. His body ached from having crashed into the ground with such force. To think this... "creature" would go so far as to try to force so much dark energy into the World Tree... This had to be stopped now!
Kratos let his wings appear, shimmering blue wings that seemed to be made of light more than feathers, and made a dash for Goede again.]
Stop! The World Tree will be overwhelmed with so much negativity being forced upon it!
[He kept running, tightening his grip on the sword he was wielding.]
If Martel is killed, this world will be destroyed, and along with it, any hope of returning to our own worlds!
[But because Jay had already reacted, Kratos would not be able to get in an attack without risking injury to an Ad Libitum member.]
Re: Stop it!!clawedshadowJuly 27 2009, 10:28:13 UTC
[He could feel it, almost all the negativity had been converted into mana. The unraveling feeling came again, his physical form wavered and flickered dangerously.
Goede dropped to his knees, hand clutching at the rough bark. Just a little more... Heh, maybe he would actually make it though this...
Twin yells startled him. What the-- both humans were actually running towards him?! Stupid stupid stupid--couldn't they see that he was already struggling to control the negativity?!]
Idiots! Do you have a death wish?! The negativity will--
[A wisp of black escaped from between his fingers. Mismatched eyes widened in horror. Before Goede could do anything, a cloud of black poured from under his hand, hurtling towards the nearest source of mana--the two humans.]
NO!! (Painsufferinganguish--) [Goede reached out desperately with his claw. Flickering digits swiped through the black mist uselessly once, twice-- He snarled, becoming solid for a moment-- The claw closed about the cloud of negativity and pulled it towards himself.]
[Jay suddenly felt a surge of panic as the black mist suddenly seeped from the demon's body. The panic was enough to cause him to lose his balance. The boy dropped to his knees in mid-stride, and the momentum sent him crashing face-first to the ground. He would have jumped up, but he heard the demon yelling.]
No...no...we don't want to die! You're trying to destroy the World Tree, and we're trying to save it! Why?! Why do you want to destroy that tree so badly?!
(The black mist...it's stopping me...just like last time. Why now??)
[Jay looked up from the ground helplessly, desperately hoping that the other man would have better luck...

(They aren't going to do anything?)
[Goede stopped backing away, though he was nearly hiding behind the World Tree at this point. He regarded the humans suspiciously, trying to read their expressions... All of a sudden he just felt very, very tired. Confusion, fear, rage, confusion, terror, more rage, urgency, several other emotions he didn't know... He had never... felt this much before. Urgh, now his head was pounding again... he needed to leave. Now.]
I...
[What should he say? He didn't know... he didn't understand... he just...
With a final look at the humans, Goede stepped into the shadows and disappeared.]

[Kratos observed the spot where Goede had last been seen with emotionless eyes. Finally he sighed silently and turned his attention back to Jay.]
...
Indeed.
Yuan left claiming the need to investigate a matter further. I can only imagine that it is related to Martel... and the current situation with this world's Tree.
Re: {Tired of the squishing}iknowjjAugust 20 2009, 00:07:55 UTC
...I see. I suppose it would be a good idea to explore other areas of this world. I've been curious about Ouin myself, but I don't feel safe leaving Blessenwood just yet, especially with that demon on the loose. So I'll accompany Colonel Jade when he decides to return to Ouin.
[Jay pondered for a moment. So far, Kratos seemed to be like Yuan, with his commanding attitude...not to mention the wings. Jay found curiosity getting the better of him again.]
Kratos...if you don't mind my asking...what are you? I mean...the wings?

He's gone... I'm a little worried. Once we leave, he can easily warp back here and destroy the tree.
So Yuan just...left? Where did he go?
