[Cantabile didn't see exactly what scavenger hunts, brunches, and beach parties had to do with the guild other than group bonding. Since that runt Norma and her leader had the oversight covered, she'd set aside some time accepting quests while the others had played scavenger hunt (and yet she'd somehow wound up having to participate anyway). This day, however, while dawning that blue swimsuit that Norma had found, she'd decided to play lifeguard, since someone needed to make sure that nobody drowned.]

[She wanted to make sure the party ran smoothly, for the sake of keeping it fun.]

[After a nice period of calm, she noticed a pair of runts about ready to drown one another while roughhousing near that spot with a steep dropoff. Up to her lips came that whistle she'd just gotten, and she didn't hold back in making it screech.]

Oi, pipsqueaks, that's enough! Stay out of the water if you can't swim, alright? Clinging to one another won't keep you af--

[She stopped once she heard the screams and pleas for help. Somewhere out to sea, she ( ... )

[Lloyd had been doing his best to have fun here, despite the fact that Kratos disappeared on him. Right on Father's Day, too... He'd have to hold on to the present he made for him until later. If later came along, anyway...

But right now, that wasn't important. The whistle got his attention first, making him look away from the sand he was shaping into a castle for the moment to look at Cantabile. From the corner of his eye, he saw another commotion, one that caught his attention immediately.

Serpents. People screaming and running for their lives. Lloyd stood up, his sand project immediately forgotten as he took a few steps forward... then stopped, realizing the same dilemma that Cantabile did. But he had a quick solution - Lloyd had rented a boat just a day earlier to explore the sea and to be by himself for a little while. For another three days, it would still be his. He turned to Cantabile as she spoke - he'd never met her before this, but that didn't matter.]

I do. Come on!

[Without waiting for a response, Lloyd ( ... )

[As soon as Cantabile heard some guy answering her question, she spun around and hurried after the one running. He was wearing swim trunks and a pair of swords. She assumed this meant that at least one Ad Libitum member had come prepared. She clenched her grip around the scabbard of her own weapon as she approached him, and as she soon noticed, a boat at the docks.]

Got it!

[Whoever this guy was, he'd better not have minded her going ahead and jumping into the boat once she was close enough to try. Because she went ahead and kicked off the dock and landed in the vehicle, causing it to dip and splash water onto the surroundings. No time to worry about a little wetness, they were in a hurry. The only person she might've hit with the water was probably soaked already, what with the swimwear.]

[Luckily for the both of them, this isn't just an average boat. It's more of a sail boat, and it's made so that... well, mostly just one person can live somewhat comfortably down below. The rest is all for moving. Still, with that leap, people on other boats who had intended on escaping got pushed through the water a bit, causing them to complain loudly.

Lloyd only let out a quick "sorry!" before he did exactly the same thing, creating more of a ruckus from the fleeing bystanders. Thankfully, there's enough wind to get moving at a relatively high speed, once Lloyd pushes the boat from the dock. It looks like the other Ad Libitum members were handling things on their own, after all.]

What are those things?! [Lloyd had never seen monsters like that before, and while they weren't as big as the sandworm he fought in the desert, they were still pretty big upon drawing in closer to them.]

[Mithos had the information he needed on the Summon Spirit of water. As he was publicly known in Wuldorwurth by his Yggdrasill persona, he was already in this form when he returned to Port Merrium. Just as Yggdrasill exited his teleportation, the screams began. Half expecting them to be because of him, the loud roaring of a sea serpent was enough to draw Yggdrasill's attention.]

... Hmmph. How annoying...

[Yggdrasill said this snidely. However irritating it was to defend a bunch of wretched humans, he had a persona to keep. Besides... it's what Martel asked of him, to protect and assist the humans of Atlas. As much as it pained him to oblige... he couldn't deny his sister ( ... )

[Of all times for monsters to attack! First the stupid scavenger hunt, and now this? Genis puts up his swim goggles as he grabs his kendama and follows the source of the serpents' wails. There! Of all the-- Closing his eyes, he casts a spell.]

Lightning! [These serpents howl, but it doesn't seem like it did much more damage than usual. Still! It enabled some people to escape safely, and that's the important part. Genis curses under his breath before he turns to Yggdrasil. Nodding in acknowledgement, the "genius mage" grips his kendama tightly.]

Thought you could use a helping hand.

[Yggdrasill's wings fluttered, as the seraph teleported to Genis' side, narrowly dodging a serpent.]

Ironic that we are fighting on the same side, isn't it?

[The seraph said this sarcastically, but it was clear that it was meant as a jest and not as being condescending.]

I shall flank them.

[Yggdrasill teleported once more, this time hovering behind two serpents in shallow waters. His wings flashed purple again, holding his finger out in his staple spell-casting form.]

Hammer of Thor, lightning of Zeus... Thunder Arrow!

[A large triangle of lightning formed around the two serpents, with large bolts raining down upon their heads from above. The spell appeared to do moderate damage, singeing their scales and burning the flesh underneath. It did not appear to slow them down, however.]

Impossible... [Yggdrasill said quietly. Keep in mind, this is coming from the most magically-powerful of the Four Seraphim, who is used to destroying pretty much everything with one shot.]

Heh. [Even if this was possibly the weirdest thing ever, Genis couldn't help grinning as he watched his sort-of friend. However, upon realizing that Yggdrasil couldn't defeat them in one stroke, Genis blinked. It wasn't unusual for him - Genis often had to cast a lot of spells - but still.

Were these things stronger than he realized? Closing his eyes, Genis swung his kendama and started casting again.]

Wanna charge? Thunder Blade! [The spell wasn't quite as strong as Genis would have liked, but the combination of both Mithos's spells and Genis's spells seemed to slow them down just a bit... if only for a little while.]

[Shirley may be a mage, but she also isn't quite suited for battle without an Iron eren - a physical fighter, there with her. She had found herself in another part of the beach, separated from most of the other members of Ad Libitum. It wasn't that Shirley felt anti-social or anything, but she wanted to be with the ocean. She wouldn't be very good company, being under water the whole time.

With her vantage point, she was able to see just how large the serpents were. They were the biggest monsters she'd ever seen... Of course, monster on Melfes weren't exactly large. While the rest of Ad Libitum charged into battle, Shirley gazed under water, spotting several people who were still frantically trying to get away from the serpents, and even more being tossed from their boats. First thing was first: Shirley had to help them. And so, she swam out as fast as she could. Her species made it possible for her to swim faster than a normal human being, thus, it didn't take her too long to reach a couple who had been knocked from their boat ( ... )

[Innes was over by the tables of food set some distance away from the waterline when she heard the screams of fear. Oh dear, it looked like her meal would have to wait. She ran towards the water, then, once she had a better view of what was going on, made a quick detour over to her pack under her umbrella. There she strapped on the lightweight greaves of her Soma - though swimming with them on might be a little awkward, she didn't want to be unarmed while there were so many monsters about.

As soon as they were on, she was up and running again, looking around to asses the situation as she approached. It looked like a few people were already engaging the monsters - hopefully that would keep them distracted for a little while. Right now, getting the civilians to safety had to be the first priority. Another girl also seemed to be thinking along those lines - hearing her call, Innes changed course to go in her direction, calling back to her.]

Right! Hang on!

[With that, she surged into the water, swimming over to Shirley with powerful ( ... )

[Shirley tossed part of the rope to Innes once she arrived, and offered a quick, somewhat tense smile.] Thank you!

[But now, they had something to do. Shirley turned forward again with a frown on her face, and then she began to swim with powerful strides. She didn't - she couldn't hesitate in the face of the serpents flailing about in the sea. No matter how terrifying it was, she was sure it was even worse for the people still trapped in the water.

There were a group of children nearby, all of them screaming out for the parents and just barely staying above the water by the floats strapped onto their arms.]

There! [She starts to swim over to them, hoping Innes realizes where she's heading, too.]

[Luckily for both Shirley and Innes, Timothy had finally pulled himself away from his father and towards one of the boats that hadn't been destroyed in the mess.

He gently steered the ship through the waves, following Innes towards Shirley's path. Waving towards them both, he then calls:] OY! Get everyone on here!

[... Nevermind that he still didn't like these off-worlders. Even if they were still helping everyone out. Right now, the safety of his townspeople mattered more than some stupid rivalry.]

[Ion had wandered onto the beach, the promise of free food and a chance to look for familiar faces enough to convince him to purchase a swimsuit. He had just taken a seat away from the majority of the crowd when he heard the screams.

He hesitated briefly, aware that his weak constitution limited his usefulness in this situation, before jumping up and hurrying in the direction of the serpents.

As he neared the serpents, the Fon Master, already breathing heavily from treading water, unleashed a Daathic Fonic Art with a great deal of difficulty on the nearest monsters. He instantly felt faint, and it was all he could do to keep himself above water. At the very least, a couple of the serpents were distracted, and he hoped it would give the people they had been menacing a chance to escape.]

Uh... huh. Okay... oka - no, no, not that way! I said go right, stupid boat! Argh...

[Norma was paddling around awkwardly in a small boat that she had "borrowed" from one of the fleeing partiers (hey, finders keepers, right?), ostensibly looking out for people who needed rescuing, but secretly hoping to find someone who knew how to steer a boat. It was a skill she'd never quite gotten the hang of.

Looking back up from her stubborn oar, she spotted Ion, whom she'd noticed swimming into the fray before. Now that she was a little closer, she saw that he seemed pretty wiped out after using that snazzy spell. (What had that been, anyway?)]

Woah, Green, you okay?

[With a frown of concentration, she paddled over in approximately his direction.]

Oh...yes...I'm fine...Just tired.

[Ion managed this between gasps of air as he struggled to stay afloat, his pale complexion and shortage of breath indicating that he was far from fine.

Daathic Fonic Arts left him weak to begin with, and performing one in water was clearly far more strenuous. If he didn't rest soon, the strain would likely be too much for his body to handle.]

You don't look fine to me. Come on, get in!

[At this point she'd gotten the boat about as close to Ion as she could manage. She leaned over and reached out to him, beckoning urgently. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed that one of the serpents seemed to heading their way. That... could be bad.]

Chat was busy giving the people ice-cream for free. She didn't have many jobs lately, sitting in the ship and checking on the engine would do in another day. She also needs something to upgrade her ship as well.

Soon, she heard the crowd started to scream and ran away from the beach. Something was terribly happened on there. Chat rushed from her spot and watched closer, sea serpents raged from the ocean.

"Tch, where they came from? It shouldn't happen at the first place! For the sake of the resident safety, I shall protect them with all cost!" Chat headed to port to get her ship, Van Eltia.
