[Admittedly, the shield breaks right after the serpent hits, but it's good enough to protect Ruca in-between attacks. Genis frowns. How strong are these things?]
You okay?

Good. [Genis couldn't help cracking a smile as he glanced at Ruca. Nodding, he swung his kendama again while he stepped back from the serpents.]
So what can you do? Are you a magic-user or a melee fighter, typically? [Yeah, Ruca had gone through the trial - but Genis hadn't been the one to administer it. It was only understandable that Genis wasn't too well-versed. In-between words, however, Genis closed his eyes and started to concentrate on yet another spell. How many of these serpents were out there?]

Then they heard the cries of people. Staring at the source of the noise, the two men stared at the sea serpents before them. Where did they come from? Without thinking, Tim rushed towards the harbor - and the people running away from the boats. His dad followed him out, but before either Tim or Lionel knew it, the two had separated.]
Come on! Everyone! Head to the plains! We'll be safe there! [The lucky ones who heard him headed back immediately. Tim didn't bother waiting for them - he knew a lot of families could take care of themselves - as he rushed towards a couple who'd been stranded on one of the canals. Fishing ( ... )

Move! Fang Blade!
[The uppercut at the end of the attack would have sent a smaller target flying, but he succeeded in shoving it backwards, though only marginally so. As Asch landed from the arte, he positioned his blade in a defensive stance as he glanced back for a moment to keep in mind the whereabouts of the other fighter. What the hell did you people do? Just stay back and do whatever you're supposed to do with that ( ... )

[The insult to her cards, though. That was really irritating.]
This is what I'm supposed to do with 'that paper.' This thing's just huge! And I didn't bring a knife or anything to the beach party. [Which, to be fair, she should have. It's best for a ninja to be prepared. But in her defense, the cards are usually more than sufficient. She did appreciate the help, though, so she stepped back to concentrate.]
Tethe Seal! [Asch's sword would have a temporary lightning-element boost, probably the best thing to deal with a sea serpent.]
If you gimme a distraction I can try to get up there and attack its face.
[That was, of course, before it decided to swipe at them both with its tail. Sheena ducked, but the force of it sent her rolling away on the sand anyway.]

There, tell Genis we're even. [Mithos said as he set Sheena down, saving her from a nasty blow. She could heal herself, Mithos wasn't going to waste any magic on a human. That serpent, however... Mithos began charging a spell, his wings glowing.]
Repent for your sins through suffering... RETRIBUTION! [A large wave of magic washed over the entire area, and suddenly, the serpents in the immediate area fell ill, confused, or strangely stiff as a plethora of status effects struck them all at once. That should make things easier for Asch.]

Good thing, too, because at the edge of the pier? Is probably the scariest Hydra anyone has come across. It's destroying boats right and left, but at this point? No one's really around to care.
Ad Libitum, your job isn't over just yet. Good luck. You'll need it.]

You will not harm Kannono.
[Widdershin said, almost commandingly. He could sense that this thing was not a normal monster, and had a very odd presence radiating from it. Widdershin had tested his strength in this world against normal beasts, and this would provide a better challenge. He was sure someone was going to assist him against this thing - not that he wanted their help - but he was eager to begin.]

And she had the weirdest feeling that she knew something bad about hydras.
As long as no one charged in recklessly - as long as there was a chance to plan, small though the chance may be - things could work out. So she looked around for Lloyd. She couldn't think of anyone else more likely to rush in without thinking, and she had something she needed to ask him to do before it was too late to think about it.]

So once he saw a familiar face, he rushed towards her. She might notice that his entire body is pretty red, considering he was dunked into near boiling hot water.]
Sheena!
