It's funny how I suddenly seem to give a crap about the Oscars only when a movie that I'm fannishly obsessed with is a possible contender. I usually don't really care about them (or any awards shows) either way. The film in question, just in case you didn't know, is Inglourious Basterds, and it managed to score 8 noms. I know how you feeeeeeeeel! I usually try to remain resigned about the Oscars but now I will ACTUALLY be pissed off if Basterds doesn't win anything. And even moreso if it loses to Avatar... again. :(

I'm crossing my fingers that the Academy will stay true to form and not allow a sci-fi movie to win Best Picture (even though that eliminates any chance that District 9 had of winning it, although the odds of that happening are slim to none), because if Basterds loses to Avatar, I will let the Basterds loose on the N'avi, grab some popcorn, and just sit back and watch. ;p

Isn't it awesome? I think this fandom has actually revived my long dormant movie geek. ;p

I did like Sean Penn's speech last year, but honestly, evn if Christoph's speech isn't fantastic, I'll still be sitting there, watching with a dopey grin on my face. He just deserves it.

I'm crossing my fingers for the screenplay, because that is the category in which I would like Basterds to win more than any other. However, there has been some speculation that the Coen brothers may cause an upset. I do agree that the Basterds screenplay is the most fabulous by far.
