Oscar Nominations (because apparently I care about them this year)

Feb 03, 2010 01:51

It's funny how I suddenly seem to give a crap about the Oscars only when a movie that I'm fannishly obsessed with is a possible contender. I usually don't really care about them (or any awards shows) either way. The film in question, just in case you didn't know, is Inglourious Basterds, and it managed to score 8 noms. However, since either The ( Read more... )

You'll have to fight me to marry the dialogue, but then I'm already married to the dialogue from Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill. :-)

*dramatic sigh* I'll just have to make do with running off into the sunset with either August Diehl or Mélanie Laurent then. Life is so difficult. ;p

I think that may be one of my favourite pictures of him. he just looks so dapper and completely unf-worthy. ;)

While I don;t want to jimx things by saying so, I think he has that award in the bag.

Any place is the right sort of place for this information! That is brilliant! *flails* This almost makes up for him not being cast as the Eleventh Doctor. ;p I bet he is going to be absolutely fabulous. *flails some more, then squishes you for informing me about this awesome news*

Also, in regards to Basterds, I hope you enjoy it! I will say that it isn't for everyone (but then again, what is?), but I personally think that it is pretty awesome. And ooh, that documentary sounds interesting. I think I may have seen something about it a few years back, or something, but I just forgot about it. I'll definitely add it to my list of movies that I need to see. :D

I still haven't seen the film but then, I don't think I've seen any of the ones nominated for the top honors. I was just happy to see Star Trek get some nods for the lesser awards. :p

Nice to see you excited about it all though!

I think the reason I actually give a crap this year is because so many of the movies that I love never get recognised for this sort of thing (and it's the same with my TV shows, as well as my musical tastes), and the fact that something I actually like has earned that many nominations is making me oddly excited.

Also, how have you been? It feels like I haven't spoken to you in a while. *hugs*

lol I didn't even care about the Oscars until 5 minutes ago, when I heard District 9 was nominated

I knew IB would get nominated for something, but D9 is a pleasant surprise

Honestly, I'm more excited about D9 getting recognition. I knew that Basterds was always going to get a few, but I never held out much hope for D9, even though I think it is the better movie of the two (it's not my favourite though, surprisingly enough ;p), so to see it actually be nominated for Best Picture was fantastic!
