Did you try google scholar instead of regular google? The first three results for "history banned books us" sound promising -

Possession of a copy of The Anarchist's Cookbook doesn't seem to do people many favours in the eyes of the current U.S. administration...and that's highly unlikely to change when the new broom takes charge.
