Hello!
First, an introduction: I'm currently a graduate student (one class to go before I'm finished with my MSEd!) in central NY. I work as the grad assistant for my college's literacy department. My B.A. is in English Education, and eventually I'd like to get a second M.A. in Literature, and a Ph.D. in either Celtic/Medieval studies, or British Lit. professor-dom, here I come!
I was wondering if anyone can help me out here. I'm interested in finding out if any American political figures have ever been linked to book banning or censorship. This could have taken place at any time during America's history as an English colony or as an independent country.
I've done my best to find this information out on my own. I've contacted the ALA, I've googled various combinations of words, but all I come up with is the "Sarah Palin Incident." If anyone can either point me in the right direction or provide me with some kind of information, I would be eternally grateful.
Thank you!
(PS: I apologize if this is not what this community is for.. I can't seem to locate any communities that specialize specifically in banned books. I thought those in academia would have some kind of clue where to look.)
