It was almost pathetic how used to it he was. The city was always falling apart and Reno still didn't understand why. As quickly as it went to hell, somehow getting it back was never that easy. Another mess that wasn't theirs. Between the Magisters and SOLDIER, everyone who had a responsibility for this kind of shit, Reno wondered why it all fell back to them to finally do something. It wasn't self sacrifice, he was just tired of rolling over and taking it.
The Turk leaned against an alley wall, not too far from where he'd last seen one of the monsters roaming around, and tried to map out the best route to take. Making a move without hearing from Tseng or Rufus might have gotten him fired before, but that was the least of his worries now. On top of everything else, he'd been dealing with becoming partially transparent ever since the monsters showed up. Although he didn't get hit as bad as some of the others; it was almost something he could live with it if it put Kadaj out of commission for a while. Assuming he'd live through this.
Maybe he was starting to get too cynical. Or it could be stress getting to him. He sighed and rolled his shoulders. Part of him was just anxious to blow something up.
Wiring the streets with makeshift explosives wasn't really a foolproof plan, but it made sense. Thanks to Rude, they had enough to take down an entire building if they needed to, and Reno was pretty sure he knew where they were coming from. With any luck, they'd seal off the source and take down a few of them with it. If that's all it took to return the city to normal, they could deal with it on their own.
Sometimes dramatics paid off.
"Rude. Elena," he called in a muted voice on a private channel. They were probably still sweeping the area for bystanders. If anyone didn't have the sense to get out once the explosions started going off, it was their funeral. "Let's get started."
