Hey, it's been awhile since I posted another part of my series on all the Impostor Two-Faces, hasn't it? This next one is part of a larger story arc, Nightwing: Year One, which reunited the team of Chuck Dixon and Two-Face familiar Scott McDaniel ( Read more... )

Evidently, DC is trying to push the idea of the Joker as an omnipotent, nigh-incomprehensible, ever-homicidal god of chaos, a la Grant Morrison. Printing Chuck Dixon's stories might lead to people coming to the idea that the Joker might be *GASP!* funny and amiable and classy even when he's about to brutally kill you ( ... )

Good catch on Blake. I did miss him, and plan to get to him eventually, but he got lost in the shuffle of other posts. Doing this reminded me of that. I think there's only one impostor left, the one from Denny O'Neil's recent story with Nightwing after Batman R.I.P., although I vaguely recall that there was one more that you reminded me about. Do you know who that one was ( ... )

That's one thing I'd love to see in the redo of DITF: actually showing their characters acting like they went through the harrowing events of TKJ, so that the story can be dealt as an actual aftermath. I'd also like to see someone trying to salvage the gross indignity heaped upon Babs, but I think Ostrander and Yale already tackled that back in the day.

It's a real shame that Steph and Damian haven't faced off against Harvey yet. I feel like there's potential for the former, who--like Jason--is the child of a petty crook, so maybe there's some insight there. As for Damian... well, frankly, while I'd ideally like to see him humble the brat, I'd just be concerned for Harvey's survival.

Funny how Alfred has to take acting lessons, as he was an actor back in his first appearence. Of course, he was also fat and stupid in his first appearences too, but I don't see how eliminating his past as an actor would fuck with continuity too much. His past as a brit intelligence agent could easily have involved him donning disguises as well. Or has that been retconned away too? Stoopud kawmix.

And I agree with lego_joker, retconning that story to involve an impostor would work best.

I think his thespian background is still canon as of this story, which is why Alfred would be in this position in the first place. He's just not as familiar with Harvey's voice and mannerisms as Bruce is, and even the best actors still need a good director.

Reluctantly, I fear that I have to vote against retconning it to being an impostor. So much canon has been built around it that I'd rather see it dealt with than erased. I've learned this the hard way, after being a Hal Jordan fan for years who wanted to see Parallax undone. I definitely learned to be careful what I wish for, lest it be done in an unsatisfying way. Now, maybe it's just because I don't like Dick, but I'm rather intrigued by the idea that maybe he pushes his provocation a bit too far... but that gets into uncomfortable territory, because even he doesn't actually deserve to get beaten the way he did.

Random image that just came to mind: Two-Face eating little silver dollar pancakes for breakfast. With little blueberries scarring the bad side.
