unveganing the meatballs

I made these veganized meatballs for dinner tonight. I used 3/4lb of ground beef plus 1 egg in place of the gimme lean beef and a package of mozzarella flavored Chreese for the nutritional yeast. They were easy and delicious!

It helps that I used my new Cuisinart Mini Prep to make the breadcrumbs and chop the parsely and garlic. My mom bought it ( Read more... )

I wonder if I could grind up regular old oats in my food processor to make it finer for making porridge? as is, the stuff does NOT cook up well *gag*

Sounds like a fun toy :)

That's what I do. Are your regular old oats like steel cut (not flat) or rolled out? I think the steel cut might be hard on the processor, but otherwise it should work!

regular oats are "rolled oats" and porridge oats are "cooking oats" The difference is that the cooking oats is finer. Lessee if I can find some pics..

Ah, I think cooking oats are what we called quick oats. They cook in boiling water in a couple of minutes?

I also use oatmeal as filler in meatloaf and meatballs. Mmm.
