I remember taking TKD lessons when I was about 12. I got as far as blue belt before the school relocated to a place that was just too far away for a poor farming family to afford making trips twice a week. I've always regretted dropping out. It was fun, though I didn't care for the tournaments or testing. I just liked the games.

I hated the testing too. Having a really bad short-term memory and performance anxiety, I would always dread performing the forms.
I always enjoyed the sparring. because we were all friends and it was more about technique and skill to get a win, not aggression and hurting each other. A good move was always praised even by the recepient and any time I could score a point on a Black Belt was an accomplishment.

I miss it alot. I don't like the schools down here. They don't teach skill they just cash checks.

I only made it to red Belt. I was ready to test for my advance red when I moved. I was preparing for my move and missed testing. It's all timing. I was workingout with the blackbelts 5 days a week and was progressing about a belt a month towards the end. so I was about 4 months away from a black belt when I moved.
